One of the HK entertainment industry’s ‘model’ couples Sean Lau and Amy Kwok attended a promotional event for a watch company yesterday. During the event, Amy would constantly look at her husband and smile sweetly, showing how much the two were still in love even after so many years of marriage. Asked by the host to share how he had proposed to Amy, Sean revealed that they were traveling on a plane together and he had 'threatened' her – laughing, he recounted: “At that time, I told my wife that she had two options: one is to marry me, the other is to open the airplane door and jump out.” Amy laughed and added that out of concern for the other passengers’ safety, she agreed to marry Sean.

Asked whether he decided to propose to Amy on a plane because he knew she had no way out, Sean laughed and replied: “Of course I knew I had a chance or else I wouldn’t have proposed! I had already bought the ring long before that.” Sean admitted that he had already forgotten the purpose of that trip and where they had gone, however Amy reminded him that they had gone to the U.S. to visit her mother. Ever since they married in 1998, the couple has maintained the sweetness in their relationship. Asked how long they’ve been married, Sean replied: “I don’t remember these things – pretty much every day is a fresh experience!” He expressed that on both their birthdays as well as their wedding anniversary, they make sure to celebrate – however when asked the date of their wedding anniversary, he mistakenly stated the date as July 26th, only to have his wife correct him that the date is actually June 17th. Sean laughed and said: “Too nervous today…usually I’m able to say the right date. I usually check the calendar on my phone too. I’m dead if I don’t know how to respond!”

It has been a long time since the couple attended a work-related event together, so did Sean prevent his wife from working? Upon hearing this, Sean proclaimed: “Everyone says that I don’t allow my wife to work – actually, it’s all a misunderstanding!” Amy revealed that TVB had sought her out to film a series for them and she had also received a poaching phone call from Ricky Wong: “It’s all in preliminary stages right now, as there are truly many things to consider. I don’t have a preference as to which TV station to choose. The important thing is to choose work that I want to do.” Asked about the rumors of their good friend Dayo Wong suffering from depression, both Sean and Amy stated that Dayo did not appear ill: “We saw him recently -- he is very skinny, but he didn’t appear depressed. He’s been swimming a lot lately, so perhaps he is just trying to keep fit.”
