The When Heaven Burns (WHB) rating sinks into a depression. Last night the cast including Moses Chan, Bowie Lam and Kenny Wong took part in a X'Mas Rock promotional event. The three announced they have established a band called 'Sober Band' and hope a record company will invite them to record a CD. Bowie is currently developing in Mainland, so he hoped their singing will be popular from Beijing all the way back to Hong Kong.

TVB attempted all efforts to recruit Bowie Lam (林保怡) and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) in filming with the company again. Allegedly TVB executives earmarked Gigi Lai (黎姿) as well, since her twin daughters were already one-and-a-half years old and have entered nursery school. TVB reportedly offered $4 million HKD for Gigi’s comeback! TVB executive and Gigi’s good friend, Virginia Lok (樂易玲), admitted that she has remained in touch with Gigi.

Oriental Daily Interview with Bowie Lam: Better than simply ‘digging gold’ up North (Part 4)

After winning the Asia TV King award, Bowie Lam, who left TVB this past May, has been heavily sought after by Mainland production companies. Rumored to be making 18 million yuan, Bowie revealed that his target is not just the Mainland, but rather all of Asia. Recently, he was also invited to participate in a Japanese TV drama as male lead – looks like he has opportunities that are better than simply ‘digging gold’ up North (Mainland)!

** The following are Bowie’s words as recorded by the reporter:

When my contract with TVB expired in May, I actually did not have any target whatsoever with where I wanted to go – all I knew was that even in places as far off as Urumqi and Harbin [TN: both in China], people knew who I was. Therefore, I wanted to venture out and see what other options existed. Not long after my contract expired, a Mainland investor wanted to sign me right away, but I did not go for it. Even though I was anxious to get back to work, I had a clearer goal in mind. I thought to myself that I couldn’t just be worth 18 million yuan – doing a few commercials and live performances already surpasses that amount! Even if they were to give me lots of money, if I had to film bad series, how many years would that last? Three times 18 million yuan is barely 60 million yuan – definitely not enough to last an entire lifetime!

More than one opportunity

Turns out that later on, I was given more and more opportunities. At the same time that I received a very very good script from a company in the Mainland, I also received an invitation from Fuji Television in Japan to film the series <> (六個陌生人). I felt that this series was a perfect opportunity, practically made for me -- even the Mainland production company agreed, so of course, which option was I going to choose? Later, the Mainland company told me that they would clean up their script a bit and wait for me.

Right now, Bowie Lam isn’t just heading up North, but rather the sights are set on Asia as a whole. The series I will be filming for Fuji Television is a collaboration with Karasawa Toshiaki and other popular artists – it will be filmed using the method of a high definition movie and will air in both Japan as well as Korea. I will be playing the role of the group leader and it is first male lead – definitely makes more of a ‘splash’ than heading up North!

No intentions to become singer again

Though there is an imminent battle between the TV stations in HK, which will allow for more artistic freedom, I actually feel it is necessary to look farther out and take things to a higher level. In the future, my goal is to film 3 series every 2 years, with 1 of the series being an HK production – but that series must have a good script.

As far as re-entering the music industry, to be honest, I never really thought about it. If you ask me to perform for a live show or sing at an event for 45 minutes, I’ll definitely throw myself into it – just treat it like a concert. But if you ask me to become a singer again, I would be hesitant, as I don’t like memorizing song lyrics for some reason – even I don’t understand why!

Bowie Lam: “Kiki Sheung Should Control Her Temper”

Friday May 14, 2010 Hong Kong
Credits: to Jayne @ http://www.jaynestars.com

In recent years, Bowie Lam left a deep impression with the audience through the many villain roles he played. Bowie urged the audience not to distinguish between the role of the hero and villain, but to look at the overall story of the development.

Regarding early buzz about the TVB Anniversary Awards, Bowie said, “Two weeks prior to the awards ceremony, we should review the clips of all the contenders. This way, the audience will have a better response.” (Did Bowie want to win another [Best Actor] award?) “In the past, I already won awards. I am not craving to win one! There is no place at home to store the awards anyway. It is better to win cash!”

Regarding Sisters of Pearl co-star, Kiki Sheung Tin Gnor, who often had negative rumors, Bowie spoke of his onscreen wife, “Kiki’s personality is too direct. Whenever she does not like something, she will speak up. However, I respect Kiki a lot, since she is my predecessor.” (Can you stand her personality?) “She needs to control herself more. If other people can not accept the criticism, then she should say less!”

Before filming, Bosco and Chris were already playing and joking around with the soccer ball.

When asked about the recent rumors that his 5 year relationship with Myolie ended? He frankly said that he will not respond. He said: "I haven't seen the report yet. It's not necessary for me to respond anyway, nor do we have to read false reports. (Do you know Elva Ni?) I haven't even seen her in Hong Kong." Speaking of the filming this time, Bosco was on a full flight, expressed that this soccer scene brings back good childhood memories. He said: "I haven't played soccer for more than 10 years. But when junior high school came, I got too fat, looking like a Kent Cheng fan, I couldn't even run, so I stopped playing. Today I'm going to go make it all up, kicking so much that my knee hurts." Also, in the series, Bosco plays lovers with Aimee Cha, he reveals that there are no intimate scenes this time.

As for Chris Lai and Bowie Lam often entertained themselves with the ball off camera, Chris said that he's not very good at soccer, he said: "Initially I thought I'll come here to do some exercising, but turns out I had not even a drop of sweat. Instead I stood here with the wind blowing at my all day, so I'm feeling kind of cold now."

Last night, Bosco went back to TVB City for work, towards the break up rumors, he continues to not respond because it is not true. He expressed his relationship with Myolie won't change.

Bowie Lam, Bosco Wong, Susan Tse and Angela Tong attended TVB's worship ceremony yesterday for the drama "Mind Reading Detective", with Bowie lamenting, "I got fatter and fatter from filming this drama, the fat on my waist is like that found on a roasted pig. Bosco always buys snacks to work, my 8 kg weight gain, will have to depend on my willpower to lose. Or else I will become a detective that can't run!"

As to Myolie's comment of "Su Zhou [insert word beginning with S instead of my substitution] Feces" after seeing pictures of him holding and hugging a girl on Facebook, he said, "I think she's just joking, carpe diem, we're just having fun, there's no feelings involved."

Bowie Lam and Jessica Hsuan's First Kiss

Source: Mingpao
Translated by: aZnagnel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Last night Jessica Hsuan and Bowie Lam were filming a kiss scene for new series "Pearl In The Palm". Jessica expressed that although she knew Bowie for so many years, but this is the first time she did a kiss scene with him. Speaking of the H1N1 influenza, is she worried? Jessica laughed and said: "If there was then its all decided by fate! But it should be fine." Jessica said that before the kiss scene, she did not have any special request from Bowie, except that he shouldn't have bad breath. Bowie laughed and said that once they started filming, they did the kiss. Results, the two could not help but laugh, it was successful after one NG. Bowie frankly said that he didn't chew gum or brush his teeth prior to filming because he believes that he doesn't have bad breath.

Kiki Sheung no time to not get along with Jessica Hsuan

Busy filming for new series, Kiki Sheung and Jessica Hsuan have been rumored to not get along. Yesterday afternoon, Jessica and Kiki continues to film for the series, the two generously took pictures together to break away from the rumors. Kiki who has finished her make-up early, once she saw Reporters she smiled: "Rumors of not getting along again!? It's so boring. Next time how about something new?" Kiki frankly said that every time she films a series, there will always be rumors that she and someone doesn't get along, besides spreading rumors of not getting along with other people, she probably isn't news worthy. She clarifies: "I don't have any requests! The most important thing is that I'm enjoying the filming process, that I'm happy. Hugging and hands on shoulder does not represent good friends, it doesn't always have to be like that to express that you having a good time. Sometimes the other party is just an enthusiastic person. We are professional artistes, we are not little kids playing with the sand. We are all mature women, carrying a professional attitude to act. This series has so many lines to say, therefore we must be focused. Being in this profession, I already know I have to survive through the nights, able to stay up for 3 days and be ok. If there is a rare chance where I could sit down and rest, I of course would take advantage of that and maybe laugh foolishly into the air?" Kiki continued to film for the series and NGed a lot, which was really funny. It doesn't seem that there is such rumor with Jessica Hsuan like the Magazines say.

Bowie Lam's character of a doting boyfriend has viewers swooning and co-star Maggie Siu head over heels in love

Popular Hong Kong actress Maggie Siu is in love with fellow actor Bowie Lam's character, having acted as his girlfriend in the blockbuster drama series The Gem Of Life.

She says: 'I started to miss having such a doting boyfriend after the shoot was over.'

The 43-year-old is not the only smitten one.

Lam, also 43, reveals that many fans have been sending him love letters every day after his outstanding performance as a dream boyfriend in the 82-episode star-studded drama.

The Gem Of Life revolves around three sisters whose father works as a manager in a big jewellery company. Their mother believes that the key to a happy marriage is money and reminds them constantly to marry wealthy men in order to enter into high society.

Lam plays the eldest sister's boyfriend, who is the owner of an entertainment company. His character is an ambitious man who has a busy and successful career, yet still makes time for his girlfriend and cares a lot about her.

Lam, Siu and co-stars Bosco Wong and Louise Lee were in town this week to promote the HK$100 million (S$19.7 million) drama, which is available here in VCD and DVD formats at video rental outlets.

Lam tells Life! in Mandarin at Gallery Hotel: 'The viewers, ranging from young kids to old women, all love my character in the show as I may be unreasonable at times but am still very caring and loving towards my girlfriend.'

But he is not so romantic in real life, he says. For one thing, he does not believe in giving jewellery to someone he likes.

Currently single, he says: 'I'd rather give my loved ones money because it's so much more practical. Jewellery doesn't appeal to me.'

The same goes for 28-year-old Wong, who plays a man who falls for the rich granddaughter of the jewellery company's owner. He says a guy should buy jewellery for his loved ones only once or twice a year because 'such acts will be meaningless if done too many times'.

Wong reveals he had felt very stressed acting with Lam in the drama. The boyish-looking actor says: 'Lam is a very good actor who is quiet and serious on set and I felt pressured to match his standards.'

Lam, who did not know about this prior to the press conference, says jokingly in return: 'Don't worry, I look fierce but I am not.'

Amid the jokes and laughter, the four artists say they are not too worried about their jobs in the light of the recent termination of more than 200 workers from their company, Television Broadcasts Limited, to cut costs. But they add that they feel very sad about their colleagues' departures.

Veteran actress Lee, 58, who plays the mother of the three sisters, says: 'It is heart-rending and I'm sure no company wants this to happen to its staff.'

Lam agrees, saying: 'Although I'm not directly affected, I know many people who worked behind the scenes. I feel upset that they have to lose their jobs now.'

She smiled: "Recently I have been paying more attention to 'The Gem of Life' TV ratings and go online to see what netizens are saying about the series. That is already enough to keep me busy, things that are not my business I don't worry so much about! (Will you call Big Lau and congratulate him for being a father again?) Right now I am already Mrs. Zhang, I'm busy cooking and making soup! (Big Lau got knocked by a reporter's microphone, it is big news, you should notice though?) Bowie and Maggie same thing, Maggie used her heels to hit Bowie's head, she hit him so nicely, Bowie's expression looked bad enough! (Is reality better to watch or is the series better to watch?) Of course the series is better to watch, filmed for a whole year, went to so many places...."

Bowie Lam visited people on Mountains, Not afraid of Danger

Bowie said that the scene where he was bashed in the head, the heels were not made from hardware, but during filming because Maggie used her real strength to hit me, so I really felt some pain. Bowie also reveals that earlier he and Yoyo Mung arrived in Mainland's mountain villages to vist. Although the roads were dangerous, but being able to help the sick, he feels its quite meaningful, if its more dangerous he'll be able to take it.

Bowie Lam: Tai Lau's version of "War and Beauty" is out

Speaking about people describing the "Tai Lau" saga as "War and Beauty", Bowie laughed " Yeh, the "Tai Lau' version is out, but the original drama was four years ago. If people want to see a good drama now, they should watch "The Gem of Life". Wong Hee also added "It is other people's business."

Maggie Shiu met Yvonne Lui in a function a while ago. Maggie described Yvonne as a "nice" lady who gave her a very good impression. Gambi has a daughter by "Tai Lau" but it has got nothing to do with her. She won't make any remarks. Reporters asked her if she had contacted Yvonne to offer her support yet, Maggie said this is a very sensitive time for Yvonne, she doesn't want to disturb her.

Tai Lau and Yvonne Lui

Note:
25 year old (ex Miss Hong Kong contestant) Yvonne Lui met 51 year old entrepreneurs "Tai Lau" a year ago and she is now 3 months pregnant with his baby. On the 23 October, Gami (Tai Lau's assistant) gave birth to a baby girl, and there are speculations that 'Tai Lau" is the father. Yesterday, Stanley Ho told the newspaper that "Tai Lau" is definitely the father of Gambi's baby.

Ada Choi's Mainland series to be shown on ATV, TVB did not make things hard for her

TVB's new series "The Gem of Life" will air next month on the 20th. Ada Choi, Gigi Lai, Maggie Siu, Louise Lee, Linda Chung, Moses Chan and Bowie Lam etc attended the press conference yesterday. They were surrounded by 200 members of the public. Ada was often whispering in Gigi's ears and showing her body figure. Earlier she filmed an ATV series "Who Is The Winner 2008" however TVB did not make things hard for her. But Lawrence Ng who also filmed an ATV series received a solicitor's letter. Ada joked "Everytime I film an mainland series I will apply for permission first before I film, that way it won't make people feel uncomfortable".

Ada stressed that when you film a mainland series you can't control which channel it will be shown on. Most important is that you get permission from TVB. As for Lawrence Ng receiving a solicitor's letter , Ada replied "It's none of my business, you should allow him to answer this". She stated that when she filmed the series she had made it clear. If the series is sold to i-Cable, ATV or Channel Now, she will not help in the promotions, only for TVB. "TVB is my first priority, I respect them".

Reports claimed Moses Chan is nominated in receiving the TVB King award this year. But Linda Chung had no fate in being nominated for her role in "Moonlight Resonance". Moses said "I am not clear of the name list, actually this year I don't have a big chance, nobody is more outstanding than Ha Yu (Jo Bau). Also Raymond Lam is very powerful this year, his singing is a success and his acting is stable". He stated that he hopes Jo Bau will win the award.

Linda Chung already knew she would not be included in the list of nominees "This year an artist will only be nominated for one role in one series. Instead I think more highly of "The Legend of the Demigods", the TV ratings were good and it's my first main lead. I am not worried if I don't receive any awards this year. I will leave it to the company and the audience to decide. Also I did not enter the industry with the target of competing in winning the TV Queen award. People who approve of my acting is enough to make me happy".

Yesterday Charmaine Sheh and Bowie Lam attended Top Gear car magazine event. On stage, she revealed that she dislike being tailed by reporters the most. Asked if she will speed off to get rid of them, she indicate that safety is most important: "If they want to follow you, you can't get rid of them anyway." When she was asked regarding the allegation of her being caught in Kevin Cheng's car during scale 8 tropical storm, Charmaine indicate that she has already responded to this and therefore will not discuss this matter anymore. However, when reporters told her that Kevin showed embarrassment and 'black face' when responding to this rumor, Charmaine smiled and said: "Could it because I look fair, while he's tanned from the sun (referring to them calling him black)? (Will you give Kevin a ride to work?) He doesn't need me to drive him. (But his car broke down!) I'm not jesting with you anymore!" Charmaine turned and left afterward.

On the other hand, Bowie's series [The Gem of Life] is going to be aired as TVB anniversary series next month. When asked if he is worried of the ratings, he replied: "No, the most important thing is that the audiences enjoyed watching the series."

Bowie Lam in tears watching the Olympic opening

Yesterday Bowie was guest of honor at Bridgestone Roll & Play 碌車胎比賽. He was very impressed with the opening ceremony. It was ashamed he could not watch it in Beijing. Bowie reckoned England would have difficulties to match China in the next Olympic Game in 2012

Bowie stayed at home to watch the whole of the opening ceremony. He knew Zhang Yimou was the director in charge of the whole show. He had no doubt that it would be very spectacular. When he heard the drumming, he called out "great". As he continued to watch, he clapped his hands as well. He didn't even want to go to toilet in case he missed something. At the end of the opening ceremony, Bowie was so happy that he was in tears. Chinses are awesome. He is so proud being a Chinese. The only regret he has was he couldn't witness that personally.

Bowie is having a rest at the moment. He will be filming The Hudsucker Proxy (金錢帝國》) soon. He will be working with Eason Chan, Tony Leung Kai Fai and Anthony Wong (黃秋生). His will play the role of working for ICAC. After that, he will do some promotion for The Gem of Life (珠光寶氣) which follows " Moonlight Resonance". Bowie is hoping his new series would get the same popularity as "Moonlight Resonance"

Each stars have their own favorite sports for example jogging, swimming, high jump etc. For Myolie who gained nearly 40 pounds for her role as Ho Mei Tin in [TGWL], shared her secret on how to regain her slim figure quickly after filming. Afterwards the stars mimicked some dance moves under dance teacher's guidance and showed off beautiful poses. Joe pretended to be jealous and started to make jokes, mimicking a stiff mannequin and making the crowd laugh. [TGWL] will be aired after [GD] finished its run on HunanTV and fans will be able to appreciate Myolie's fine acting in the series.

As for the last segment "Let's perform together", the host invited some fans onstage to perform with Bowie. Even though Bowie doesn't have much on-screen scene with Charmaine in [DOP], the arduous filming process left a deep impression in both of them. Bowie's role Yim Man Hei is a very aggressive clan leader but his romance and fate is extremely volatile and filled with obstacles. Bowie personally loves this role, even more than his Sun Bak Yeung role in [War & Beauty]. The lucky fans also have the opportunity to mimic Yim Man Hei's arrogant look alongside Bowie. He also kept making 'cool' expression to tease fans, showing his friendly side.

After the fans gathering ended, the group will divide into two team and rushed to two different station to attend TV shows. They will be sharing their experience and feelings on the show, therefore fans should not be missing these shows. Charmaine and Joe will be returning to Hong Kong the next day while Bowie, Sharon and Selina will be attending the live telecast of "Happy 2008" on 14th of March.
