Karen Mok thinks she is prettier with a face wound
Karen Mok Man Wai who just returned from South Africa stayed in Hong Kong for half a day before rushing to Beijing and Shanghai to promote her upcoming Mainland film release THE LAW OF ATTRACTION. Karen and Taiwan director and actor Leon Dai for the first time officially. Although they performed in the film TEMPTING HEART (SUM DUNG) over ten years ago, they did not have any official scene together. Thus this time was considered their first collaboration. In the film they played a couple who have been married for seven years and began to have problems. The husband finally discovered his wife's affair, thus someone deliberately created an accident. Yet after the accident they were able to pick up their initial love again.
Karen said that working with Leon Dai felt great, especially because he was also the director. Before the shoot they were able to properly communicate and she was made to get into the character easier. During the passion scene they had no embarrassment and performed very naturally. Karen said, "This time I learned a lot, working with Director Dai I came out ahead. (What is the key for a couple getting along?) I am not married yet, I really don't know how to answer. However I feel they have to learn to appreciate each other, whether good or bad they have to learn to tolerate." Because Karen's character was injured in an accident, most of the time she had to put on wound make up. However she thought she was more beautiful and even joked, "Honestly, I have never seen a complete facial injury that looked so pretty."

1000s of Chinese Artists (CN, TW, HK) microblog-power for earthquake disaster relief
Thursday April 15, 2010 Hong Kong

At 7.1 magnitude earthquake hits Yushu County of Qinghai Province, China. The news shook our hearts, there current death toll has rised to 617, nearly 10,000 wounded. A Hong Kong volunteer (Wong Fok Wing) for the local disaster relief was killed due to the buildings crushing in on him. The hero shocked our hearts, even the Mainland, Taiwanese and Hong Kong artists. Everyone expressed their feelings and sent their condolences through their microblogs, showing how united the community is. Many donated materials, money and sent blessings to the earthquake victims.
The big 7.1 magnitude earthquake hits the Chinese region once again, testing the power of love and unity. Regardless, people living in Hong Kong are blessed. The recent Taiwanese and the SiChuan earthquake two years ago are still fresh in Mainland artists memories. The heroic acts of the disaster relief volunteer (Wong Fok Wing) in saving others lives was named "Hong Kong Hero" by Gigi Leung on her microblog.
Thousands of Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwanese artists expressed on their microblogs of the united spirit, no separation of power, constantly calling for donations, disaster relief activities and charities. Aaron Kwok and Lynn also did not avoid each other, working hard together in doing charity work. Miriam Yeung, Steven Ma and Jet Li paid their tributes to the hard working rescue team, hoping they can look after their own health too. Others who wrote on their blogs about the earthquake: Karen Mok, Andy Lau, Alan Tam, Myolie Wu, Janice Man, Michelle Reis, Kenny Kwan, Ivana Wong, Angelababy, Michelle Ye, etc.
Other facts:
- Twins plans to donate the money they earned from the concert to the disaster relief
- Anthony Wong donated 200,000 yuan
- Joey Yung donated 100,000 yuan
- Li Yuchun's Fund raised 1 million yuan

Karen Mok back with Digital Album

Source: CRI.English
Hong Kong singer/actress Karen Mok held a press conference for the release of her first digital album in Beijing on Tuesday.
It's the first full-length album from the singer after she took the Best Album award with her 2007 LP "Live Is...Karen Mok" last year at the 19th Taiwan Golden Melody awards, the most influential event in the mando-pop scene.
Titled "Aftertaste" (or "Hui Wei" in Chinese), the new album is a reprise project including 11 pieces of re-created classics selected from both the household folk melodies and the time-tested pop songs.
Mok said it's been a challenge to add her personal style in these old tracks while keeping their original characteristics. By collaborating with longtime music partner, lyricist Francis Lee and top pop producer Zhang Yadong, the songstress finally made the whole package with the breakthrough she planned for the new album. Breaking the boundaries bebween old and new, the trio managed to match the trendy pop and electro elements with the orthodox tinge of the old-time music.
Not just in the music itself, the singer also chose the newcome digital platform to publish her new tracks instead of the traditional disc sale. "I have to catch up with the new trend of digital music, the old ways will not work one day," the singer said of the digital release of her new album.
Karen Mok is recognized in the mando-pop scene for her easygoing-freestyle personal mark in music

Eason Chan, Joey Yung and Karen Mok Bag Top Awards
It was a chilly day in Hong Kong, but that didn’t stop fans from turning up at the TVB studios for a double celebration on Saturday night.
Not only was the station’s TVB8 channel celebrating its 10th anniversary, it was also hosting the TVB8 Mandarin MOD Best 10 Awards 2008 — broadcast live not only in Hong Kong, but throughout the region. In Singapore, TVB8 (StarHub Channel 53) aired the show.
Not too surprisingly, despite a large field of nominees chosen and voted for by the viewing public, the big winners turned out to be veterans Eason Chan, Joey Yung and Karen Mok, who picked up the big awards for the night — Most Popular Male Singer, Most Popular Female Singer and Most Popular Female Singer in Mainland China, respectively.
“I’m definitely happy,” said Mok of her win. You don’t get such an award overnight! It must mean that I’ve worked hard for a while! So, it’s very encouraging.”
This year has also been a great year, award-wise, for Gary Cao. Sporting lilac floppy bangs this time, he took home four awards: Song of the Year, Best Singer-Songwriter (Gold), Best Music Arrangement, and was also a winner for Top 10 Gold Songs.
And despite missing out on the Most Popular Male Singer to Chan, the Malaysia-born star was still in good spirits. “I don’t mind,” he quipped. “I’m still quite new to this business compared to people like Eason. I’m very happy.”
The show, which was hosted by Paisley Hu and Benji Chiang, featured performances by all the winners of the Top 10 Gold Songs award, which included Mok, Chan, Cao, Yung, Guan Liang, Khalil Fong, Charlene Choi, and Lin Fong and Vincy Chan.

HK Star Karen Mok Loves Enthusiasm of Korean Fans

By Cathy Rose A. Garcia
Staff Reporter
If there's one thing that Hong Kong star Karen Mok loves about performing in Korea, it's experiencing the enthusiasm of the fans.
Mok was back in Seoul to participate in the 5th Asia Song Festival over the weekend. Two years ago, she impressed the Korean audience with her performance as Mimi for the Asian tour of the Broadway musical ``Rent.''
``I had a great time performing here (in 2006)). The Korean audience is definitely the best we had (during the Asian tour of Rent). They were really into the whole thing. They're really part of it,'' she told The Korea Times, backstage after she performed at the Asia Song Festival concert Saturday.
Still wearing the slinky printed mini-dress she wore on stage, Mok did not look the least bit tired after giving an energetic performance before a crowd of 35,000 at Seoul World Cup Stadium. She performed two songs from her album ``Live Is… Karen Mok,'' which won Best Mandarin Album at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards last July.
Mok was all smiles, and had nothing but praise for the Korean audience. ``They're great. It's the first time I'm kind of performing the songs from my album in Korea. The songs may be new to the audience but they were still very receptive,'' she said.
Mok has been in the entertainment industry for 15 years, having success in both the music and movies. She has released 14 albums and appeared in over 40 movies including ``Around the World in 80 Days," ``So Close" and ``Fallen Angels."
Mok starred in the film ``So Close" with Korean actor Song Seung-heon in 2002, but they never appeared on screen together. ``I should be very angry with my director because I never had any scenes with him," she laughed.
During the interview, Mok suddenly stopped in the middle of a sentence when she heard the strains of Korean singer Shin Seung-hun singing ``I Believe." ``Oh, that's such a amazing song. Everyone knows that song," she said, excitedly.
She hopes to work with Korean director Park Chan-wook in the future. ``I would love to work with the director of `Old Boy.' He's amazing. `Old Boy' was definitely one of my favorite movies. It's very stunning," she said.
Mok recently appeared in a horror film ``The Coffin," and is now preparing to produce and star in another movie. ``It's a project I really want to do. It's a sports movie. Basically, it's about a long distance runner. I used to do a bit of long distance running myself. So I have special affinity to long distance running,'' she said.
Next week, Mok will be launching her own brand of perfume, said to be the first Asian celebrity fragrance. The perfume has been described as ``capturing the essence of Karen Mok in a bottle ― sexy, edgy and utterly feminine.''
``I'm really excited about this because I've had this idea in mind for a long time. I believe Asia should have its own celebrity fragrance. It is suitable for most women, especially Asian women,'' she said
Despite her hectic work schedule, the 38 year old still looks as radiant and youthful as ever.
When asked about her beauty secret, Mok said: ``You try to live a healthy lifestyle. The state of mind is also important to stay happy. And you really have to like what you do. It gives you energy and makes you more youthful.''
And judging from Mok's smile, she really likes what's she's doing.

Karen Mok "I was not the third person in the bathroom",
Athena Chu recently stated in TVB's "Be My Guest" interview that 10 years ago when she was working in Mainland with her boyfriend who was also from the entertainment industry, she caught her boyfriend in the bedroom with another woman. She suspected that there was woman hiding in the bathroom. Athena expressed that she would often go and visit her boyfriend to say Hi and he would always welcome her. However on that day, he did not open the door when she knocked. When she was allowed in she felt that the bed was very warm and she could not open the bathroom door. She realised what was going on and immediately left the premises in tears. But what was most shocking was that her boyfriend stated she didn't know the person hiding in the bathroom. Since Athena did the "Be My Guest" interview the paparazzi's had been very curious of who the person "Hiding in the bathroom" was. They speculated that Karen Mok was involved in the incident because they believe the boyfriend Athena was talking about was Stephen Chow even though she didn't mention names. During the time they were filming the movie "A Chinese Odyssey" Karen was rumored with Stephen. Yesterday evening Karen Mok appeared at Marc Jacobs Autumn and Winter Fashion Show and it was the first time she responded to the report.
When Karen heard about the rumors about her being the third person in the relationship and suspected being caught by Athena. Karen angrily said " I am being framed, it's really a load of nonsense. I do not know who Athena is referring to but that person is definitley not me. I have always been someone who will do things in the Open and upright and will never be sneaky. I will also not be a third person. Also in that movie there were many female artists and female workers, it could have been any of them. Why do you speculate it's me? It's certainly not me and I don't deserve this. It will affect my reputation and you cannot go around talking about this nonsense.

All of Asia’s stars in one stadium
The fifth annual Asia Song Festival is going to take place on October 4 in Seoul’s Sangam World Cup Stadium. This year’s performers come from 8 countries in Asia:
Korea: TVXQ, Shinee, Girls’ Generation
Japan: w-inds, Berryz Kobo
China: Anson Hu
Taiwan: Fahrenheit
Hong Kong: Karen Mok
Thailand: Ice
Vietnam: Ho Quynh Huong
Philippines: Rivermaya
Indonesia: Agnes Monica
Hopefully, this event celebrating so many of Asia’s biggest pop stars won’t just turn into a regular ol’ DBSK concert since Cassiopeia occupied much of the seating at last year’s Asia Song Festival. But ah, imagine the crazy fandom-crossing possibilities — DBSK interacting with w-inds! w-inds interacting with Fahrenheit! Karen Mok complimenting a boy band! Don’t faint, people.
Some past Asia Song Festival stars include Ayumi Hamasaki and Koda Kumi from Japan, F4 and A-Mei from Taiwan, Leon Lai and Kelly Chen from Hong Kong, Golf & Mike from Thailand, Peter Pan from Indonesia, BoA and Super Junior from Korea. This will be DBSK’s fifth consecutive year performing; they are the only artists who have performed at every single Asia Song Festival since the event’s inception in 2004.

Jaycee Chan: Not comfortable at the end of Opening ceremony
Jacky Chan, Karen Mok, Andy Lau, Joey Yung and Nicholas Tse were invited to perform at the ending of the Olympic opening ceremony. But there was a mix up in the scheduled. When they were singing, the guests were leaving the stadium. Some lights were even switched off and they were not shown live. Although the artists said afterward they did not mind because they had a chance to sing in the Olympic Stadium anyway. Jaysee told reporter he had to be honest about it. He saw his father put on a performance when people were leaving. He felt very uncomfortable about the whole thing.
Jaysee had an interviewed at the commercial radio by Cha Siu Yan (查小欣) yesterday. Speaking of his feeling about the performances, he felt everyone on stage was feeling uncomfortable watching people leave the stadium. Jaysee himself who was in the audience. He was ushered to leave. He couldn't even watch his father finishing his song. Jaysee said if it was him on stage and saw the audience leaving, he would scream and shout at the audience. As this was the Olympic opening ceremony, one could not do that. Jaysee did send a text message to rumored girl friend Fiona Sit wishing her a happy birthday.

While on stage accepting her award, Karen expressed that she would like to get married; however, during her interview backstage, she said that, while she certainly wished to be in love, she had not yet found a match.
