Find out the reason why Wayne Lai prefers to pay rental to buying property

Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) attended the event as a safety driving ambassador and distributed goodie bag to the drivers on the road. Many female fans requested to take photo with him together and his wife drove a 7-seater vehicle to fetch Wayne.

Dared not buy new vehicle for his son

Wayne expressed that he was a driver whom obeyed the traffic laws but his driving licence points was deducted before. He said: "I am considered lucky that I am not required to go to court for driving licence revoked. I always try to warn myself and my wife fetches me most of the time, but I drive by myself when returning to TVB." Wayne disclosed that he was getting old and had passed the era of changing new cars, and said: "Instead, my son keeps telling me about new designs of the cars and I need to explain and deal with him. (Buy a car for him?) He already approaches me and I tell him 2 years later. Ultimately, new drivers need to practise as accident may happen."

When asked if he was buying property currently, Wayne replied that the property were too expensive and said: "Few years ago, I did think about it but it is too expensive and not worth it. In fact, renting is okay as we can rent it cheap and less pressure." He added that he did not have any expectations and said: "I have no hobby and everything I do it is for the sake of children. I am satisfied as long as there is good script and opponent."

TVB Anniversary Awards 2012 had a new 'one person per vote' system, allowing the audience to vote for their favorite TV King and Queen. At first, everyone thought Raymond Lam would take the title because he had the most fans, but he ended up with nothing! Kate Tsui was only given the 'pork award' (condolence prize) -- "My Favorite TV Female Character" award. [Good News] obtained news from a reliable source of the voting results. On the night of the awards show, TVB announced there was a total of 1,542,922 votes. TV King and Queen each had around 110,000 of the votes. According to the reliable source, Kenneth Ma was actually in second place for TV King, just 30,000 votes behind Wayne Lai; On the TV Queen side, Kate Tsui was in second place with around 30,000 votes behind Tavia Yeung. Raymond Lam did not even make it on the top three.

It was understood, the two TVB executive giants Virgina Lok and Catherine Tsang were in a battle. Catherine insisted on delaying the awards ceremony until the two anniversary series The Confidant and Silver Spoon Sterling Shackles finishes its broadcast, so her favorite artists Wayne Lai and Tavia Yeung could have extra time to boost their momentum and get in more votes, and plus the finales frequently become the hot topics in the city. Results, Wayne and Tavia successfully won the awards. Virgina Lok saw right through Catherine's plot. This directly affected her favorite artists Raymond Lam and Kate Tsui's votes. No wonder the two are attacking back! Apparently Raymond and Kate are fighting back by refusing to accept any TVB series next year. Next year, Raymond is concentrating more on music, Mainland dramas and movies; Kate will be focused more in movies.

My brain blanked out when I received the Best Actor Award, which is why my acceptance speech was a bit disorganized.

At the time, she won't be able to participate in the TVB Anniversary. She said: "I actually rarely participate in the anniversaries. (Do you feel the TV Industry has recently been a huge mess?) I don't care. I usually place myself in other matters, so I don't think this is related to me. (Did you received a poach call?) I don't know, you need to ask my manager. I'm not just about the money when I work, I also want a good role like Jewels in the Palace. A role that can encourage the youth and people in difficulty. Giving back to the audience is much more meaningful."

The majority of the audience praised the good ending, they felt that Chau Gau's death was a beauty and his brief relationship with 4th Wife was romantic. Earlier Netizens created a memorial forum for Laughing Gor's honorary death, Netizens did the same thing for Chai Gau. It seems like Netizens really don't want him to go!

The remembrance forum is entitled: "We will always remember Chai Gau", the forum has Chai Gau's black and white photos, and a picture of incense sticks. Below the pictures, there was a caption that said: "It's you, that taught us to withstand the setbacks in life, need to be able to withstand life's mistakes in order to gain success. Chai Gau's life will definitely be deeply remembered in our hearts. Chai Gau, we will never forget you...." Last night, there was already more than 200 people who joined the forum, they expressed that they didn't want Chai Gau to go, told him to RIP and some Netizens said they support Wayne Lai to be TV King!

Don't Support A Sequel
Many Netizens have the same thought as Wayne and Sheren, they do not support a sequel to "Rosy Business". The Producer accepted an interview last night and felt that the original cast being in a series set in Modern times is not a good decision, but he can consider another series that has a similar style as "Rosy Business', but the characters and story will be entirely different, other cast members will also be included.

Entire HK Audience says Goodbye to Chai Gau, Goal: to reach 51 points in ratings [WARNING: Contains Spoilers!]

Chai Gau needs to leave now! Chai Gai from "Rosy Business" (played by Wayne Lai) will finally draw a perfect full stop tonight. Wayne Lai and the entire HK audience will be sending off and saying goodbye to Chai Gau together! Wayne also hopes that the ratings could peak at 51 points, allowing "Rosy" to break "Jewels In the Palace" Record and write a glorious page. In the past few days, the weather has been rainy and the sky has been dark, fits the tragic life of Chai Gau. Back to reality, Wayne's portrayal of Chai Gau has been greatly praised by the audience, is a perfect candidate for the new television King for this year. Congratulations to Wayne Lai who has finally made a success in his TV career, definitely deserves to open up a champagne to celebrate!

[WARNING: Contains Spoilers!]

Tonight "Rosy Business" will broadcast its finale, TVB's Scoop will hold a special in Discovery Park, Tsuen Wan for the audience to enjoy the finale together with the cast. Chai Gau still has to die in the end, Wayne feels that this is the most perfect ending. "Chai Gau's personality has always been upright climbing up from the hunger, he deserves to die. His life is quite fascinating. Also TVB is sponsoring an event for everyone to watch him leave the world at a shopping center, just like everyone going to Chai Gau's funeral! It's an honor. Of course, I will be part of the group who sends Chai Gau off, if the TV ratings could break records, then it would be even more perfect."

[WARNING: Contains Spoilers!]

"I really hope that audience could come together and come together to support the finale, create a peaking TV rating of 51 points! Surpass "Jewels in the Palace" highest record. Then Chai Gau's life would truly be perfect, no more regrets. In the next 10 or 20 years, everyone would still remember "Rosy Business" and its lead in TV Ratings."

More Fame, More Work

Wayne feels that "Rosy Business" has brought him a successful experience, writing a glorious life for him. "Maybe because I'm getting old, I don't have any big plans on how much money or work I want back for what I do. The most important thing in life is to be able to experience it! This time Chau Gau being so successful, so beautiful and perfect. It is a beautiful experience that I will never forget."

Of course, after becoming well known, benefits naturally come flowing. "I admit that ever since the reactions from the series was good, I had more job opportunities. Later I will do dubbing work for Disney, my son is also participating. We would be a father-son team. After that, I will be part of the "Laughing Gor Film" and some other endorsement activities."

Good Show, Likes it and Touched [WARNING: Contains Spoilers!]

Thinking back to the 25 episode "Rosy Business", there are many scenes where Wayne really likes and also feels very touched. "Like in episode 8 when Chai Gau was angry with 4th Wife not agreeing to promote him to be the 3rd leader, the goal of that scene was a crushed disappointment, showing Chau Gau's personality. The episode from the other night (Episode 23) where 4th Wife was at the restaurant, she simply said one phrase 'are you leaving yet?' , 'I want to sit here a little longer!' - the performance showed a strong relationship, which is the results from the Director's three sides of feeling, it gives off a great sense of satisfaction." Does Wayne look forward to another great script for his next series? Wayne said: "I don't know if there will be such blessing for another great combination, is it necessary for sequel, I also do not dare to say or maybe this is the end of a most beautiful life written. (No more targets or goals?) Continue to earn a living lor!"

There are Netizens who highly praised Wayne, the more they watched the more handsome he was, Wayne laughed: "Yes! I'm actually quite handsome. Luckily when I filmed "Rosy Business" I was losing weight too, therefore I look slightly better on camera, I'm quite happy to have these results."

Wayne Lai leads a richer lifestyle since becoming a main lead

Wayne Lai started his career acting minor roles , due to his enthusiasm and hard work his acting skills received high praises. His popularity gradually increased and he was awarded best supporting actor in last year's TVB Anniversary. TVB decided to sign him up as one of their own "son's". He has since played lead roles for the series "Pages of Treasures"" and "Rosy Business."

Since becoming a main lead, it is said that TVB required him to change his image, from a normal mid aged man to a handsome man. He is ordered to only go to high class stores to maintain his "Siu Sang" image. The reporter discovered Wayne in Central buying clothes in brand stores and even in a high class supermarket. It appears that there is a big difference in Wayne's lifestyle. In the past Wayne's selling point has always been his acting talent rather than his image.

A source stated "Before TVB promoted Wayne, of course they didn't manage his lifestyle. But because the company is promoting him now and signed him up as their own "Son". They will certainly be mantaining his image. It is said the company wants him to focus more on his appearance. For example, to wear brand clothing and to go to high class supermarkets. That way he matches the "Siu Sang" image. We know that he didn't become rich overnight, but he must obey to his orders."

The reporter discovered Wayne in Central the other day and he looked very handsome. He went to the supermarket "City'super", brand stores Lane Crawford and Armani Exchange. When he discovered the reporter he immediately smiled and left. The reporter approached him and asked whether he was having a makeover? He only smiled and didn't respond. But when asked about the series "Rosy Business" he replied "This series has a lot of inner emotion scenes. I hope you will tune in to watch it." Although Wayne leads a richer lifestyle, he has not changed one bit, still the same person without an attitude.

Wayne Lai brings life to the role 'Chai Gao', Feels Good

Source: Ming Pao
Translated by: choccho @ http://asianfanatics.net

[How many 10 years does one have in a lifetime!]. This is “Chai Gao’s” favourite phrase in
[Rosy Business] and this is also Wayne’s life motto. 24 years in his acting career, he has filmed more than a hundred drama series, his acting talents has been recognized and the roles/characters given to him gets more and more challenging by the years. This has added much colourful elements in his life, of course he was overwhelmed with mixture of feelings, feeling great and at the same time miserable. There was such a time when he convinced himself (not to accept the role) however, after he kind of cools off, he continued on this journey liken to that of a roller-coastal ride.

So, who actually caused the stir in Wayne’s mixed feelings about the roles given to him? The answer is the producer Cheung Wa Biu (張華標). Wayned laughed and said : [Cheung gave me numerous challenging roles, and each time it gets tougher, for instance, [The Gentle Crackdown II] where he took on dual role with two different characters and followed by [Rosy Business], a low-class and not a likeable ‘Chai Gao’, as if this role is specially crafted out for me by Cheung.
The more challenging the role is, the more stressful it is

I feel the pressure of all the high expectations that people have on me. Wayne said : [I almost wanted to retire when I filmed [Gentle Crackdown II], and I told myself the role of ‘Chai Gao’ will be my last series. At most I will eat less!! My son is entering growing up, and I am an ordinary person. This is the struggles of an actor. When acting gets tough, I would think, what’s the point of going on? But when there is nothing left to do, I would feel life is meaningless after all.

Why has ‘Chai Gao’ caused Wayne’s so much misery? Recently, there have been an outburst of online discussions on the characters in [Rosy Business]. 'Chai Gao' has successfully broken the tradition of Male Leads having super-heroic and righteous characters. On the contrary, ‘Chai Gao’ is a mysterious person, selfish, petty, inferiority complex yet draws a very clear distinction of what is love and hatred and have only loved Sheren Teng all of his life.

Taking on the role as the 4th mistress, Sheren Teng’s role is also equally challenging, a slight inadequacy would have the rebounce effect on her role. Wayne has brought much life to ‘Chai Gao’ complex character. Wayne analyse that ‘Chai Gao’ is one who perceives that ‘character determines fate’. The portrayal of the complexites in this character is well-accepted by the audience. Wayne said ‘Chai Gao’ is his representative work in 24 years.

Praises Raymond, Ron and Bosco

Wayne was asked of his views about the what has been said of the current Siu Sangs not being able to take over from the veterans, Wayne thinks that that is due to the changes in the whole TV industry over the years.

Wayne said : [In the past, the directors and actors are required to undergo one year intense training classes, for example, Johnny To, will give proper guidance from the perspective of the actor. But the newer generation of artistes lack proper guidance and training. Consequently, they lack the skills yet there are no solutions to it, the most they could do is to hope for a talented artiste to come by]

Amongst the Siu-Sangs, he looks up to Raymond, Ron and Bosco. Raymond will be successful, he has what Andy Lau has, loved by the audience, half the battle is won. Bosco has his own personality and would be a character artiste. As for Ron, he has his base, with some talents, but have to see to what extent and how much hard work and effort his puts in.

Reaping the Rewards

Battling for over 24 years, he has finally reaped the rewards. He feels fortunate. [I am very thankful, for someone like me who does not like socializing much and still able to reap such good results, I will treasure every moment]. Wayne also feel blessed as he has a lovely son and wife, this is certainly ideal family. He also confessed that there were times where he had arguments with his wife but he realized that when a man and woman comes together, there must be a reason, that is to complement one another. Acting and maintaning a marriage are part of his life’s changing and learning process.
