Kevin Cheng Earns Enough, No Fear of "Filling Shoes" for People
Saturday November 24, 2012 Hong Kong

Yesterday Kevin Cheng and Ella Koon were ribbon-cutting guests at the watch brand TISSOT's grand store opening at a shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui. Since Kevin is now a popular actor in Mainland, there was a large crowd of tourists surrounding the location and jammed the mall. The event organizers gave Kevin and Ella watches as gifts. When asked if Kevin minds 'filling shoes' for someone? He laughed: "I'm used to it. If I didn't fill someone's third or fourth shoes for Ghetto Justice, then how will there be me today? Keep it coming. However, it turns out Huang Xiao Ming is the spokesperson for this brand, of course it would be most suitable if he came today. Unfortunately he's injured and so I'm filling in for him. I hope Xiao Ming gets well soon.

Talks are rife that Hong Kong TVB actor Kevin Cheng is dating his young female assistant when the anxious girl broke into tears while tending to Kevin's injury.
The 43-year-old got hit accidentally on his right eye while filming a boxing scene in new drama, Ip Man in China last week.
His eye started to bleed profusely and Kevin's assistant reportedly dashed forward immediately. She requested for ice packs and lifted his head gently to soothe his injured eye and demanded for towels and first-aid kit, while comforting her artiste in between.
The young assistant also broke into tears upon seeing him in pain.
According to the production team, the girl, who is in her 20s, is one of Kevin's assistants and in-charge of mediocre chores such as making tea.

Since becoming TVB’s triple-award-winning TV King, Kevin Cheng’s (郑嘉颖) workload has become overwhelming. At the same time, the amount of gossips centering around Kevin has increased as well. Recent tabloids claim that Kevin and ex-flame, Charmaine Sheh (佘诗曼) , reconciled their relationship. Rumors claimed that Charmaine even scolded Kevin’s ex-girlfriend, Niki Chow (周丽淇), in the TVB makeup studio. At a promotional event over the Christmas holiday, Kevin laughed at the recent rumors.

Kevin Cheng will be cautious when meeting Mainland girls

The new TV King Kevin Cheng turns into LAW BA once again to shoot a scene in Sham Shui Po for new series Ghetto Justice II with TV Queen Myolie Wu. Kevin expressed shooting for this series will complete next Tuesday, then he will head to Mainland to shoot another series immediately after. Asked if he's getting 160,000 yuan per episode like the rumors say? He said: "It's really not just that amount!"
A few days ago, it was rumored that Niki Chow and her rich boyfriend broke up, Kevin was asked if he had comforted her? He said: "When I see her, I will. Actually, no need because we already met at Toby Leung's wedding. I chatted with her, she looks totally fine, no need to be comforted." Perhaps he should consider re-sparking with her? He embarrassingly said: "This is quite an interesting question."
When Kevin gets to Mainland to shoot series, is he afraid he'll bring trouble upon himself just like how Ron Ng and Raymond Lam did? He said: "Now we can't tar somebody with the same brush. There are all kinds of people in this world, aside from having to meet people wisely, you also have to see how your luck is. See if you meet a good girl or a girl with motives. I hope everyone can put on their glasses when meeting people." Will he reduce his opportunities to meet Mainland girls? He said: "I don't agree with this. If it's said like that, we are offending the millions of people in Mainland. It is just there is a larger population in Mainland, so there is a higher likelihood to meet a girl with motives. This is a human nature problem, can't just randomly label Mainland or Taiwanese girls. It is unfair to them." Will he choose to be careful or just choose HK girls? He said: "In fact, I want to ask you all for what reason do you believe there aren't these types of girls in HK? After all, must be careful when meeting girls. I will first treat them as normal friends, no need to rush. Test the waters first."

'Triple Award TV King' Kevin Cheng had several romances, but has always handled them low-profile. Since his entry into the business, he had a romance with several famous actress, including Linda Wong, Niki Chow, Charmaine Sheh and Mainland model Jenny Tsui. All along, Kevin adopted an attitude of not admitting. He rather let people know, but not let people see. Even if the media catches him, he insists on not admitting. Recently, Kevin's popularity has been skyrocketing, leading to several different versions of reconciling rumors with his exes including Charmaine, Niki and Jenny.

The Hong Kong actor reportedly promised to buy the actress an apartment
Have former lovers Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh reconciled?
Kevin was rumoured to have broken up with his Chinese model girlfriend two months ago, and had reconciled with Charmaine.
The Hong Kong actress reportedly visited Kevin at his home whenever she was free.
Charmaine and Kevin fell in love with each other after working on TVB drama Forensics Heroes II in 2008. Then, netizens dubbed Kevin a "jerk" because he had dumped Nikki Chow -- his then-girlfriend of five years -- for Charmaine.
Since then, the actor had had a series of bad luck.
In 2009, Kevin and Charmaine were spotted on a date. However, as the actor was unwilling to admit to their relationship, he supposedly left Charmaine in the car. Various other reasons contributed to the end of the couple's relationship including reports that Charmaine was also earning more than Kevin, having invested in real estate.
The couple, however, remained friends after their split, as there wasn't a third party involved. It was rumoured that the pair had gotten closer recently, even flirting on their microblogs.

Kevin Cheng, the comeback kid of 2011
For someone who "did not have an interest in acting" when he first started out in 2002, Kevin Cheng has sure come a long way with three Best Actor trophies under his belt now
Every actor craves for a breakthrough role and the same applies for Hong Kong TVB actor Kevin Cheng, who has been meandering in showbiz for close to two decades.
But the times are a-changing now for the 42-year-old actor, who is currently riding on an all-time career high after consecutively picking up three Best Actor trophies for Ghetto Justice -- in a span of two weeks -- at Malaysia's Astro Awards, Hong Kong's TVB Awards and the recent Asian Television Awards.
His stellar and convincing turn as a rogue lawyer in the TVB series won him rave reviews all around and placed Kevin on the fast-track towards regional success. Plus he's gaining fame in the Mainland China after starring in hit period drama series, Startling by Each Step (also known as Bu Bu Jing Xin), one of China's top-rated drama series for 2011 which also single-handedly revived co-star Nicky Wu's flagging career.
Looking dapper in a black bow-tie suit ensemble in an interview with xinmsn at Shangri-La Hotel last week, Kevin came across as an affable chap who speaks his mind without sounding brash or haughty. One might allude his sincere and humble disposition to the bumpy start he experienced in showbiz during his days as a singer in Taiwan, where he barely scraped through with financial assistance from his mother.

TVB Anniversary Awards 2011 ended the night before. The hot favorites Kevin Cheng and Myolie Wu were crowned the new TV King and Queen and won the majority of audiences' agreement. However, there are still a group of audience that felt pity for 'Laughing Gor' Michael Tse leaving empty-handed. There were also complaints to TVB that the results were unfair.
That night, Myolie personally forked out some money for a celebration. She and Kevin, the cast and crew of Ghetto Justice, Virgina Lok, Bosco Wong, Joyce Cheng and her boyfriend were partying until 4am. Bosco's mother was also present to take a look at her future daughter-in-law. JJ Jia, who is currently shooting Ghetto Justice 2 was so happy for Myolie that she got drunk. When she was leaving, she was slightly out of control while she was getting into Myolie's car.

42-Year-Old Kevin Cheng Craves Marriage: “Only Smart Women Apply!”
Forty-two-year-old Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) has been single for a long time. Eager to date, get married, and have children, Kevin wished to enter another stage in life. Despite his eagerness, the first step in choosing a partner was setting the criteria. Between beauty and wisdom, he would prefer to choose a smart woman. Since marriage was for a lifetime, Kevin noted, “I’ll go without than settle for someone shabby (寧缺勿濫)!”
“At my age, why would I not wish to date? It’s a very normal thing to do. Actually, I do not mind revealing my dating status as long as it is not at the outset of the relationship. In a relationship, you need to go through a bit of understanding before dating. When the dating relationship has stabilized, then it is okay to reveal it. Oftentimes, the relationship did not reach that stable period yet, then how can I reveal it? I do not mind openly dating and will not get married secretly. If I were to get married, I will notify everyone. If I were to have children, I do not mind letting others know but please do not photograph them; this is [for their privacy] and to protect them!”

Myolie Wu can't decide who should be TV King - Kevin Cheng or Bosco Wong
Thursday November 3, 2011 Hong Kong
Source: Oriental Daily
Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/
Myolie Wu is one of the hot favorites for this year's TV Queen title. She said she won't feel pressure, instead she has a normal mindset. Yesterday Myolie and Christine Kuo were shooting in Sam Shui Po for TVB new series Ghetto Justice II. This year Myolie's two series Ghetto Justice and Curse of the Royal Harem has been gaining momentum, increasing her chances for the TV Queen title. She has also been described as overpowering Fala Chen's popularilty from Lives of Omission. If Myolie really does get crowned TV Queen, which series does she hope to win for? She laughed: "I don't know! As long as I get it! Just kidding! My evil role in Curse of the Royal Harem is controversial because I'm not really considered evil, after all characters in the palace are so human-oriented. As for Ghetto Justice, I only got the points in the final episode, so it's hard to predict. I won't think too much, just going to have a regular mindset, this is not for me to think about."
Asked for which series she put more effort into? Myolie said: "Which series isn't difficult to film? However, when comparing Curse, it was more difficult because the characters have great ups and downs, but the most important is the good TV ratings and audience enjoy watching. The entire cast and crew really put in the effort to produce the series." As the public is often comparing Myolie to Fala? She said: "I don't feel it, thanks for all the support. I am actually quite happy already, the award is just a bonus."
Reporters teased Kevin Cheng is Myolie's on-screen lover, but Bosco Wong is her actual lover in reality. Myolie was asked who she wanted to win the TV Queen award with? She smiled sweetly: "Can do that? Leave this for the audience to decide! (It will be a memory for you and Bosco?) This is not my decision, have to see how the audience reacts."

Kevin Cheng Makes More Than $160K Per Episode
Source: Mingpao
Translated by: sparkles_n15 @ asianfanatics.net
The cast of Ghetto Justice 2 held an official ceremony yesterday to celebrate the start of filming for the new series. Actors Kevin Cheng, Myolie Wu and Stephen Huynh all attended the ceremony. Kevin had just returned to Hong Kong after making a stage appearance in Toronto. Earlier it was reported that he was making over $160,000 RMB per episode filming in China. Even Myolie Wu couldn't resist asking him to treat her for a meal. Kevin reveals that the amount is actually more than that.
With recent movements between different TV stations, many people are speculating that Kevin is a well sought-after artiste. Kevin says, "You can't put it like that. I've always supported TVB, but I can't control whether or not my series will air on other TV channels." Kevin says he never received a call from Ricky Wong. He still has a long contract ahead. He also doesn't have any problems with his current management because TVB gives him opportunities to film in Mainland.
A new producer will be taking charge of Ghetto Justice 2. Is Kevin worried it would affect the series? "The producer directed the first series, so he's already familiar with the story." When asked whether he heard that Ricky Wong plans to film a movie version? "If it's true, then it's definitely good news. However, if he really intends to film it, I hope he'll announce it soon." As Kevin has had to shave his head for his previous series, there was a rumour that he's been using hair growth stimulants. Kevin clarifies, "I've never used any. I'm just a spokesperson for a hair products company."
Myolie was asked whether she was jealous of Kevin's per-episode fees? Myolie says, "I'm not cheap either, but I won't say the amount because it might scare people. It's really good for what you pay for!" Myolie says that artistes under contract have a fixed salary. She says she was happy to learn that many behind the scenes personnel have received a pay raise. She's glad to continue working with the same people. Would it be okay if you got an award instead of a pay raise? Myolie laughs and says, "I don't know. But I have confidence in myself this year."

As Kevin has had to shave his head for his previous series, there was a rumour that he's been using hair growth stimulants.

Portraying a down-and-out lawyer and revealing his “quality butt” in the first episode of Ghetto Justice, Kevin Cheng’s <鄭嘉穎> career was resurrected by the role. His lucky moment may have arrived! The series peaked at 35 points in ratings. Due to the popularity of the series, TVB announced the filming of a sequel in October 2011 featuring the original cast. Ghetto Justice was a surprise hit series and TVB intended to release a film version featuring Kevin and Myolie Wu (胡杏兒), with the addition of various film stars.
The original producer of Ghetto Justice, Tong Kei Ming (唐基明), was sought by Shaw Brothers to produce the project along with director, Chung Shue Kai (鍾樹佳). Mr. Tong also revealed that Kevin Cheng was the third choice to play “Law Ba” in Ghetto Justice. “Our first choice was Bowie Lam (林保怡), however he rejected the role to film a mainland series instead. Our second choice was Felix Wong (黃日華), who was busy performing in China and turned down the role. Finally, we considered Kevin Cheng. I was surprised by his uninhibited performance.”
