Nick Cheung remembers cockroach meal

Luisa Lai Chi San's program BEST ACTOR interviewed Nick Cheung Ka Fai. Before joining the business Cheung Ka Fai was a police officer. He became a cop because he wanted to investigate cases and carry a gun, but in the end he was unable to become a part of the criminal investigation department, felt that he was unable to put his expertise to use and switched jobs. Cheung Ka Fai signed with TVB for two months before going on indefinite vacation. He said, "TVB, sorry, I was thinking of quitting even though I signed." He pointed out that at the time he was absent and did not know what he wanted. Coincidentally his relative passed away and he had to go to South Africa, so he lived there for eight months in a comfortable setting. The pressure and the displeasure earlier from when he worked at ATV for five years were all released during that period. That vacation prepared him to return to work at TVB.

Nick Cheung becomes his daughter's 'second most loved' person

Sunday June 19, 2011 Hong Kong
Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Currently losing weight for his new film, Nick Cheung appeared at the Tsim Sha Racecourse for the The 2nd Watch Premier Cup Race Day. Yesterday was Father's Day, Nick said his daughter is forever his 'second most loved', he said: "My daughter said she loved me to millions and millions, but when she said she loved her mom (Esther Kwan), it is to 'infinity'. I just want to see them happy, then I'm happy."

He will soon rush over to Beijing for the Treasure Inn promotion. When speaking of Nicholas Tse, whom is currently rumored to be in marriage crisis, will also be at the promotion, Nick laughed: "When the time comes, he will show up. We have to talk about the movie as quickly as possible before he appears. (His publicity surpasses yours?) No, because his news is very shocking, so the media just wants him to speak out." As for himself, he does not want to bother Nic, so his initial plans to Kuala Lumpur to visit the set was cancelled too: "We don't talk about gossips when we see each other, even if he wants to tell me, I stop him because I don't want to gossip about his family matters." He feels that Nic can handle the situation.

Yesterday Nic met his TVB old colleagues Raymond Lam and Winnie Young again, which made him crave for shooting TV series again. He said: "I want to shoot a TVB series, but I'm afraid I can't handle the difficulty. I don't want colleagues to accommodate me, even if I'm just guest starring it's still like half dead, so the chance is pretty small." Reporters teased that shooting TV series requires a chok look. He joked: "Chok, I haven't played with in a long time. Mines is the natural chok!"

Nick Cheung's new film (旺角監獄) had one heated bed scene with co-star Monica Mok which was the most challenging for him. Because the two were too into the scene, making their actions too heated, even when rolling off the bed, Nick injured his shoulder and was sent to the hospital for treatment

In the film, Nick plays a triad assassin who has been in prison for 30 years. After he was released from prison, he suffers from mental disorders. Nick once said frankly that he's always worried of going over the line in getting too into character, thus leading to depression. He also revealed that when he's not in a good mood, he would become rude and can even hurt someone.

For the bed scene with co-star Monica Mok, Nick got too into character and worried about his partner, causing injuries and having to visit the hospital. Also this bed scene is Nick's most challenging one, the story talked about how Monica had to repay Nick for saving her with her body. Suffering from mental illness, Nick quickly took action on her, taking off her clothes and force kissing her. But during filming, the two got too into the scene, making their actions too heated. When the two rolled off the bed, Nick was worried that Monica may bump her head, so he had himself roll off first, so he can touch the ground first. Because of this, he injured his shoulders, the behind the scenes workers saw the accident and sent him to the hospital for treatment.

Afterwards Nick said: "Actually before shooting the scene, we already discussed that we will accommodate each other. When it was time to officially shoot because we were too into the scene, that's why there are injuries. Monica is very professional, she performed well." Monica expressed that she does not mind shooting intimate scenes, and praised that Nick is a gentleman. Before filming, Nick had already told her what parts of her body he will be end up touching.

Nick Cheung was Yong Er's concert guest singer yesterday night, and he looked nervous when he performed. Frankly speaking, he looked to be more under pressure singing on stage than receiving the most popular actor award.

Nick expressed that even though he once had an album, he's never been singing on stage for more than 10 years, he boasted that he was under pressure singing in front of many people. He also revealed that he once was offered by Albert Yeung to make an album, but he politely turned it down, because he thinks that although he loves singing, he doesn't fit to be a singer, as acting is more suitable for him.

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Yesterday Vincy Chan held her press conference for her upcoming concert (唱泳音樂世界) on June 25th yesterday. As this is the first time she personally did her ticket sales for her own concert, she is quite nervous. Yesterday Film King Nick Cheung was the secret guest who came to the scene to support Vincy. Wearing dark sunglasses, he wasn't trying to be a superstar, but its because he's left eye had a pimple. A few days ago, he undergo a septic surgery to remove it, so he will have to wear sunglasses for the next few days. This time, Nick will be particpating in Vincy's concert as a special guest and will be dueting with her. Asked if Nick who had once released albums wants to re-enter the music industry? HE smiled and said that he's already old, in the music industry, he's an elder. Probably won't be able to survive a singer's lifestyle, so he will just stick to acting.

Vincy said that she is very nervous to be able to duet with Nick Cheung the Film King. The two do go out for karaoke in private, she hopes that her fans would feel that she improved. Asked if she would be appearing sexy? She frankly said that she's not selling sexy this time, actually she will have surprises on her dance. Also, she has been practicing so much on her dance that she lost 10 pounds. Will she be worried that her body isn't fit enough? She said that at least theres less burden, people should not focus on the body and that would be better. She doesn't mind downgrading then.

Saturday November 16, 2008 Hong Kong

Nick Cheung accepted an interviewed by "Road Show" yesterday. He exporessed that he would be returning to TVB in the middle of next year to film a new series directed by Jonathan Chik. The series is about him and his friend went climbing in the mountain. But they were short of food. He ate one of his best friends. But he was saved by the rescue team. Soon after he returned home, he married his dead friend's girlfriend. He is also using dirty tricks in his business deal. Nick disclosed that TVB had discussed about him doing some series the past 2 years. But he wanted to see the script first. He didn't really want to be in a traditional role of being a hero or good guy. Reporter asked him about the scene which might show him eating a person's flesh, whether his daughter would get frightened? Nick replied "I don't think the camera will show me holding a human hand like I am hiolding a drumstick. It will show the scene but pretty much as symbolic. I wouldn't want to lower the standard of filming just because of my daughter. If the sript is good, I will take the job."

Nicholas and Nick were shooting in the street market

Thursday October 30, 2008 Hong Kong

Nicholas Tse and Nick Cheung were filming "The Beast Stalker" in Electric Road and the street market in North Point the other day. They have over 300,000 dollars worth of air rifles as props. During filming, some stalls in the market were racked and over 100 onlookers were really frightened, thinking there was a gun fight between gangs. Some people even phoned for the police.

Although the film company EMP has applied to the Transport Department for blocking out part of the traffic on the road, they were still restricted in the area where they could film. There was a scene that Nicholas and Nick had to run about 300 meters in and out of the market and the tram track. During the process, they also had to avoid the on lookers. As a result, Nicholas had knocked down 3 stalls and that particular scene had 15 takes. Nicholas had injury to his knees before and he was worried his knees might start giving him problem again. Therefore, he had to rest for a while before they continue to film.

On the other hand, Nick was filming a scene where he was using his air rifle to shoot. The force of the rifle was so great that he nearly fell backward. The air rifle also gave out a large amount of smoke. At that point the on lookers actually thought there was a gun fight between gangs. As a result, someone called the police.

Nick Cheung not afraid of rumors with Charmaine Sheh

Source: The Sun

Yesterday Nick Cheung, Moses Chan, Charmaine Sheh and Kate Tsui were at the golf course filming for the sales presentation of "Bad Love Hits" (《絕地擊情》). Haven't returned to film for TVB in 4 or 5 years, Nick said: "Actually TVB has always looked for me, this time even Producer Chik Kei Yee thought it was very attracting, "Secret of the Heart" was also produced by her."

First time filming with Moses, Charmaine and Kate, he highly praises TVB that they have powerful artistes: "Besides "Moonlight Resonances" having many experienced artistes, the younger artistes also have their own talents." As for "Rumor Queen" Charmaine Sheh, Nick is not afraid of getting caught on with rumors, he even said: "it's a rumor, never will know its fake, I never really had much rumors, see this time if I get any! (Your wife will get jealous?) Work! If she gets jealous just like that, I'll have to retire!"

Hollywood and Hong Kong cinema spawn a handsome hybrid

Hollywood and Hong Kong cinema spawn a handsome hybrid
Popular director Benny Chan renders the remake of ‘Cellular’ attractive to local audiences by staying true to Hong Kong’s cinematic sensibilities

By Ho Yi

Dubbed the first Chinese remake of a Hollywood blockbuster, Connected (保持通話) takes its story from David R. Ellis’ Cellular, and was shot by Hong Kong’s foremost action flick director, Benny Chan (陳木勝).

With a top-notch cast led by Nick Cheung (張家輝), Louis Koo (古天樂) and Liu Ye (劉燁), Chan proves that movies translated from West to East can be attractive to local audiences brought up on the fine tradition of Hong Kong action cinema.

Fast-paced and dynamic, the film wastes no time in introducing its female protagonist Grace (played by Taiwan’s Barbie Hsu, 徐熙媛). A widowed electronic engineer, and mother to a daughter, Grace finds herself in a car crash, then kidnapped by some gangsters involved in a murder that her younger brother had witnessed and recorded on camera, and locked up in a hut.

Cut to Bob (played by Louis Koo, 古天樂), a single dad who works a dead-end job as a debt collector and can barely keep his family together. On his way to see his son off at the airport, Bob receives a phone call from Grace, who drew on her engineering know-how managed to put a smashed phone back together but could only dial a random number.

Believing Grace and her family are in mortal danger, Bob takes the information to the police only to be told the call was as a phone prank. He then takes matters into his own hands.

Enter detective Fai (played by Cheung), a former rising star of the force who fell from grace and was demoted, who launches a one-man investigation.

The Hollywood transplant has been renovated in a quintessentially Hong Kong style. The elements are all there: well-executed fight choreography; adrenalin-stimulating car chase sequences; the timeworn plot of good guys versus corrupt cops; and of course, a dash of Hong Kong-esque humor. The film’s production values are unquestionably high and slick, exemplified in the scene where a crane shot swoops down on Koo who is trapped in a car that dangles on the edge of a cliff.

Though not without a few far-fetched plot devices, the action thriller coaxes viewers to suspend disbelief with a bevy of characters that have well-developed motivations and personalities. Liu makes a charming and slightly psychotic villain. Cheung, a favorite supporting actor in Hong Kong, shines as a family-man police officer who clings to virtues that no longer apply to the contemporary world. Koo turns in a convincing performance as an unlikely hero who struggles to be a good father and helps to soften the film’s hard edge with a father-and-son subplot drama.

As with most action movies in which the female lead serves as an eye-pleasing prop, Hsu is easily overlooked amid the strong male cast. Apparently, the star needed more practice and training to master her craft than her costars. Perhaps she should seriously consider shedding the pretty-faced pop idol look next time she plays a character who is kidnapped and tortured.

For the movie 《保持通話》 (Connected) Big S was under a lot of stress. Nick Cheung was asked his opinion on Big S and her stress, he said that she works hard and that it's even harder with the different environment and acting roles which influences her mood. He also says that it is hard for her but not as hard as him.

Nick has gone through depression before and the reporters asked, "How are you now?" He said, "I'm good now. I left Honag Kong for too long, acted a lot with so many different roles. If only I could do just Hong Kong movies."

Reporter: In the movie, you are seen with a girl on your left side and a girl on your right!
Nick: Oh, they were only five years old! I told my wife and she laughed at me. Even if they weren't she would believe that I would not do anything to betray her. She knows that I would not do such a thing that only causes pain.

Bobby Au Yeung’s Professionalism stops any rumours

Bobby Au Yeung’s Professionalism stops any rumours

Bobby Au Yeung has worked with numerous actresses one series after another. But he had never been reported to have rumours with any of them. Bobby states that he clearly knows what is real and what is acting. Therefore he doesn’t have a problem in breaking out of the character after the scene. Due to his professionalism, no wonder he is not rumoured even with the most gossiped actresses.

Bobby had worked with actresses such as Charmaine Sheh, Ada Choi, Yoyo Mung, Esther Kwan, Jessica Hester Hsuan etc in many different drama’s. Even though there had been many intimate and kissing scenes, he will never have real sparks with any of them during filming. “I already have my other half. This mean’s I can use this excuse to clear my mind that the actresses I am working with are just colleagues. I have never had an experience where I was unable to break out of the character after the scene. After filming I will not even make contact with the actress, as this will stop any misunderstandings. But because you see your colleagues day and night obviously you will make many good friendships. Just like when I worked with Nick Cheung and Benz Hui, we didn’t want to apart. ( Does that mean your wife feel’s very comfortable with you acting?) “Of course, actually she looks down on me by saying that nobody wants me”.

Bobby jokes by saying he is a lucky star and often gives good fate to colleagues he’s worked with. “ Just like Nick Cheung and Esther Kwan, Ada Choi and Max Zhang, Yoyo Mung is also very happy. Let’s jchaust say that everyone has a better tomorrow with me around”.

Nick Cheung, Bobby Au Yeung & Jessica Hsuan Hopes to Collaborate

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianeu.net/forums/

Last night Bobby Au Yeung and Jessica Hsuan were celebrating for their manager's birthday, good friend Nick Cheung was also invited as a guest, the three of them were chatting endlessly. Jessica often gets tricked, but she expresses that she hopes that the three of them will have an opportunity to collaborate in a series together, as Bobby recalls the time when they were filming for "The Legendary Four Aces", each day Nick would laugh and say: "let's see if there is a producer has good eyes, find us three 'Golden Team' to film a series!"

Also, yesterday Nick accepted 《范後感》 interview, he said once he surprised his wife Esther Kwan: "I won't do romantic things, even if others think I am romantic, but the things I do are more playful. One time when my wife (Esther) was in Mainland filming, I took off and secretly went over to Mainland and visited her on the set, at the time she was putting on make-up, I quietly sat besides her, I scared her as she did a big jump! [when she saw him]" He also reveals that in the past he gave up on becoming a police officer and was unemployed for 2 years and more.

Esther Kwan blows off "Best Selling Secrets": She leaves the series

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianeu.net
Source: The Sun

Esther Kwan the female lead of TVB's sitcom "Best Selling Secrets" unexpectedly decided to quit! The entire crew also feels its very sudden and also rumored that she has another baby for her reason to quit.

The 24/7 mother Esther Kwan has always worried about her daughter, always do everything first for her daughter, therefore she does not meet up with cast members very much. But, before CNY she suddenly wanted to have a dinner reunion with the BSS crew, afterwards, it was revealed that the script has changed and the character Wong Ka Lam will be taken out and leave for a long vacation. Everyone feels that the dinner reunion was actually the farewell dinner!

The other cast members has often tried to test Esther and see what was the real reason why she took off, but she did not say anything, only that she is only taking a 2 month break. She admits that after her break is over, she would return to filming. Although the cast said that because she is pregnant so she decided to quit, however the truth is not that! Because Esther and Nick are both working at the same time, she is worried that no one will be able to take care of her daughter, also she hopes to have another baby, and so she decides to stop working. So, taking a long break is just an excuse, she will not be returning to the BSS crew!

"Best"'s producer Mr. Lo (羅鎮岳) admits that Esther's parts will be finished first, before she leaves for a long vacation and other all parts related to Esther will finish broadcasting at the end of this month (March). He denies that its because she does not care and just leave, its because she needs to take care of her daughter. She has once suggested to proceed, but was not successful. Mr. Lo strongly emphaizes that the series will not be affected. He has confidence that it will maintain its quality, because there are many themes in the series and also added many different cast members such as Wong He and Suki Chui, etc.

Nick Cheung: She wants to take care of daughter
The media has tried to contact Esther Kwan, but she has not responded yet. Nick Cheung accepted the interview and denied that his wife is pregnant, she's not filming series because she wants to take care of her daughter and give her the most attention. She hopes to spend the time with her daughter as she grows up, but he admits that they do want to have another baby. Asked if he will film a series with TVB, he expresses that he will have a look at the scripts first before deciding.

Esther Kwan & Anita Yuen Bring Kids to See Show

Children's theater program, "Jack and the Beanstalk" has been playing in Hong Kong. Numerous celebrity parents brought their children to watch the show. At yesterday's performance, Esther Kwan, Nick Cheung Ka Fai, Anita Yuen Wing Yee, Wong Pui Ha, Carol Yeung Ling, Kei Kei, Mimi Kung Chi Yan and Hong Chi Lei were spotted in attendance.

Esther indicated that her daughter, Brittany, already saw "Jack and the Beanstalk" last year. Since Brittany enjoyed the show previously, Esther decided to bring her again.

Brittany is currently 2 years old. Esther revealed that she provided Brittany with English instruction and brought her to children's playgroups. Did Esther spend a lot of money in raising Brittany? Dependent upon Brittany's interests and skills, Esther will focus on developing those areas.

Allegedly, it cost $4 million (HKD) to raise a child. Esther laughed and said she did not calculate the costs. However, she believed the figure was overstated and that it did not cost that much to raise a child. However, if Brittany required certain professional instruction, Esther does not mind in paying for the fees. If Brittany does well in school, she might receive government aid in her education.

Esther invested in a fund to assist in paying for Brittany's future education. Due to inflation and that it was difficult to predict their future financial situation and inflation, Esther believed it was best to plan for the future.

Anita Yeun Said Son Lacks Patience

Anita Yuen revealed that her son, Morton, is currently 15 months old. Concerned that Morton would be unable to sit still to watch the entire show, Anita brought an ample supply of snacks. Since Morton is quite rambunctious, the family often sit in a private room when they dine out to avoid disturbing others. Morton's personality is similar to Anita's in lacking patience.

Due to the recent exposure of Edison Chen's sex photos, did Anita consider how she will discuss such matters with Morton [in the future]? Reading various children's psychology books, Anita said she will be able to discuss these matters with him appropriately.

Siu Fong Fong indicated that the sex photo scandal was a prime opportunity for parents to educate their children properly. Anita agreed and noted that some of her friends intend to reserve the topic for future discussion with their grown children.

However, Anita will not save the sex photo topic for future discussion with Morton. Times will change and the topic may no longer be appropriate.

In raising children, Anita felt that the most important lesson was to teach them how to protect themselves.

Asked about Edison's situation, Louis expresses that it can be considered the scandal has come to its ending, he does not want to talk about it. Nick Cheung: There is a reason why there so many Police Officer Escort
There has been criticisms about why Edison needed police to escort him, it is a waste of police forces. Nick says: "I believe that the police had their reason, for example one factor could be if someone wanted to assassinate him. I think that will stop them, police's reason for being there is accurate. Have to protect a person's life right?" As a parent, will he teach his daughter about those sex photos? He says: "I will tell my daughter to not face the wrong problems, everything she does she will need to be responsible for the consequence. When growing up, each and every person has made a mistake, I hope that in the future when my daughter grows up, we will have father-daughter communication."

Anita Yuen and Flora Chan Party With Their Babies - Nicky Cheung Invites 100 Guests For Daughter’s B-Day,

Credits: Serena @http://asian-gossip.blogspot.com/
Source

Two years ago, Ester Kwan and Nick Cheung welcomed the birth of their daughter Brittany.
Brittany turned two on January 24th. Mr. and Mrs. Cheung wanted Brittany to have an
unforgettable birthday so they spent +HK$10000 to close down a McDonald for her party.
They invited Chilam Cheung, Flora Chan, and nearly 100 guests for the celebration.
They are such good parents!

Last Sunday, Nick and Ester both requested a day off to host their daughter’s birthday party.
To avoid the press, the two picked a McDonald located at Central’s Smithfield Road to host the party. They even reserved the entire second floor. The 100 guest needed to show an invitation to identified themselves. This was done so uninvited guests could not slip past the door.
A conservative estimation showed that +HK$10000 was needed for the party.

The party started around two o’clock with the guests continuously arriving at the location.
Some guests included Chilam Cheung, Anita Yuen and their son 慕童, 上山詩納 (Anna) and daughter, and Joan Tong with her daughter. Even the seldom seen Flora Chan, husband Mike and daughter arrived at the party.

To capture these precious memories, Nick paid a photographer to take pictures of the party.
The children at the party all wanted to have their picture taken with Brittany. Chilam’s son Morton enjoyed playing with the other children. He was very active and ran all over the place.
Anita would often chase after him.

Flora and her daughter wore matching outfits. She was carrying her daughter as she chit-chatted with Chilam. She also had her daughter wave her hands to say hello to everyone! Even though the party was scheduled to end at five o’clock, Flora and her daughter left around 4:30 pm.
She was in charge of carrying her daughter while her husband went to get the baby stroller.

The star of the night Brittany was carried away by Nick. But Brittany would constantly look back at the McDonald and her expression suggested that she didn’t want to leave. Nick had to use a gentle force to put her into the car. Chilam and Anita wanted to avoid the reporters so Anita’s father took Morton home first. Morton had very sharp eyes and he spotted the reporters.
Chilam and Anita left McDonalds at differing times.
