Many TVB veterans have once said: “Linda Chung was born to eat this bowl of rice!” From Everlasting Sorrow’s Bak Gui Yi, the saying “born to be beautiful, hard to let herself go” was penned. Indeed, there are people who have to suffer to survive in the entertainment industry; there is only a small number of people who were born to be a leading lady. Without a doubt, Linda Chung Ka Yan is the latter.

There are people who say the entertainment industry is insincere, hypocritical, and very fake. However, TVB’s new little big sister Linda obtained praises that she seems very genuine. There is one person who thinks it might just be rumors, but 100 other people agree with her praise. Human affairs are not this ideal, but at least she has many people’s approval. This sweet girl whose style of speech was always like a little kid is only a little over 20. By nature she is modest, but she is not complacent. Instead, she is aware she is still not enough. “I’m very thankful that so many people support me. Getting praises definitely isn’t just by my own ability. Many circumstances helped. When I first entered the industry, I knew nothing. Many veterans happily helped me. For instance, Ah Jeh (Liza Wang Ming Chuen) always gives me pointers. Also, my idol Hoi Mei (Kathy Chow Hoi Mei) said she likes watching me act; I was really happy to death!”

Vigorous! “TV Queen” in Due Time
Although Linda has improved tremendously, she still hasn’t climbed up to a high rank. “I’m fearful of regression! There are times that being an artist, you can climb up to a very high rank and then fall very lowly without knowing. Sometimes, you work very hard, but the outcome is another story! Human nature, there will be falls and it’s not possible to maintain a positive mood. I hope that I can be in control and I can develop in many areas in the future.” It turns out she’s very greedy; filming series, filming movies, singing, theatrical plays, she wants to try them all, but she frankly says that filming series will be her top priority. She aspires to become a “TV Queen”: “Of course I want the award! I will continue to work hard for it. I hope I can do it. Before, I thought I couldn’t. I hope I can become a ‘TV Queen’ in due time!”

Not angry! Losing to Kate Tsui
In the recent “Hong Kong Film Awards”, Linda had a chance to win Best New Performer. In the end, she lost to another golden newcomer, Kate Tsui Tsz San, causing her heart to be pricked. “I continuously supported Kate and was happy for her. However, many people asked me if I’m really upset by my lost. I can say that I’m not! Still, people didn’t stop asking me and so from nothing, I slowly developed something. I really don’t want to be asked this question again!” Linda lost the award, but won a consolation prize; several movie companies offered her roles. It’s not because she’s exceptionally gifted; the bigger reason is because she is “obedient”: “I can easily understand what people want and am quite easy to get along with, bearing the burden of responsibility. As long as it doesn’t exceed my bottom limit then I’ll do anything! Perhaps the director thinks I’m not annoying so they like to use me!”

Love is like the barrier to developing in the entertainment industry. Linda gladly lets go and lets fate take its course. If fate comes along, she won’t stop it. Asked whether or not she would avoid Raymond Lam Fung, this “good friend”? She smiles and says, “In short, our collaboration is very blissful. We are very good friends. Everything has to wait for the heavens to arrange!”

Admiring veterans
Linda is recognized by veterans. Their teachings are naturally imprinted into the heart. As for Linda, what has she learned from them?

Liza Wang
“Ah Jeh is a very professional artist. She’s always serious when working. She’s never pompous when dealing with me. She’s very easy to get along with. She contributed a lot to Hong Kong!”

Ha Yu
“While filming for the new series Heart of Greed II, we have a lot of scenes. He’s really a very good actor. He can momentarily smile through tears. He’s really a natural talent!”

Michelle Yim
“Michelle is a very meticulous person. Although she has experience, she will still write a lot in her script. She does a lot to prepare. As a young person, I definitely must learn!”

Epilogue: Trustworthiness
On the day of the interview, Linda was busy filming. After shooting pictures [for the interview], Linda had to return to the studio to continue filming and the interview had to be rescheduled. The next day, Linda was still busy and couldn’t make arrangements. However, when she had a break [that day], she called up the reporter to make up the interview. Trustworthiness is a must for success. Hope that Linda can keep this trait!

Additional news: Linda is currently recording for her upcoming CD which is said to be released during the summer months. She’s preparing to launch her music career.
