Earlier in March, rumors spread that EEG artist, Isabella Leong was romantically involved with billionaire Li Ka Shing's son, Richard Li. The Li family is one of the richest and most powerful Chinese families in the world. Richard Li is the head of PCCW, the largest telecommunications company in Hong Kong.
A tabloid magazine ran headlines that Richard Li vowed to take care of Isabella Leong and her family for the rest of his life. Allegedly, he also vowed to pay over $10 million dollars (HKD) to extricate Isabella from her long-term EEG contract.
Although Isabella and Richard's rumors have been spreading like wildfire, Richard said to friends, "The rumors do not contain an ounce of truth."
However the story took a new turn yesterday. Allegedly, Li Ka Shing asked fellow billionaire friend, Cheng Yutong, to urge Richard to downplay his romance with Isabella. Reporters asked Li Ka Shing about the alleged romance between Richard and Isabella. However, Mr. Li refused to respond to any questions.
Since the rumors broke, Richard has become quite upset. Richard's girlfriend of two years, Rachel, who is of mixed Chinese-British descent, has also become the paparazzi's target. While attended a theater show, Rachel and her mother were stopped by reporters. Rachel said confidently, "These are rumors only. Please do not believe them."
How was Richard and Rachel's relationship? "Pretty good, like normal people." Rachel expressed confidence in Richard.
