The photo was said to be taken by the Hong Kong singer's assistant

A photo of Hong Kong singer Leon Lai and wife Gaile Lok strolling hand-in-hand on the streets of Beijing surfaced last week, dismissing any rumours of a marriage breakdown.

However, it turned out that the photos were snapped by a female assistant and was not "accidentally" captured.

It is believed that Leon had staged the photo.

According to a Hong Kong magazine, Leon and Gaile had dined with their manager and two assistants that night.



One of the assistants later stood at a distance, with a camera in her hand. While she was snapping pictures of the couple, their manager and the other assistant conveniently stepped away.

It was speculated that Gaile initially looked upset, because she was forced to put on a show. However, at her husband's urging, the model eventually smiled. The assistant continued to take pictures, until the couple boarded their car.

Later, a netizen -- nicknamed 'Xiao Di Zhu_Peng' -- shared the photos online. The account had since been deleted. Leon's assistant later forwarded the photos and they began spreading on microblogging site Weibo.

Although the loving scene of them that night might be staged, an insider revealed that Leon and Gaile have reconciled.

"Leon promised Gaile, he would visit her family and take a holiday in the US after his concert. He also said that he would spend more time with her. He's even compromised on the matter of having kids. Leon said that as long as Gaile is obedient and would give up drinking and smoking, she could have as many kids as she wants," the insider said.
