Ada Choi returns to TV with 'War & Beauty 2'
The actress said that she may bring her daughter to the set of filming for the period drama series
Actress Ada Choi has been staying at home since she gave birth to her daughter Zoe in May this year.
According to the Hong Kong media, the TVB actress was waiting for the right offer to come along to make a return to showbiz.
While it was previously reported that Hong Kong broadcast station TVB was willing to pay her a hefty sum for her comeback, latest reports have confirmed that Ada will be joining actors Moses Chan and Sheren Tang in the period drama sequel, War & Beauty 2.
Last night, during the imaging session for War & Beauty 2, Ada was seen wearing a costume resembling that of a servant. When reporters asked Ada why is she not playing the role of the empress in the show, the actress felt that the producer wants her character to work her way up the hierarchy.
"I received a lot of scripts after giving birth to my daughter. I've also rejected a lot of them. All that I am hoping for now, is to not spend too much time away from her," Ada said.
With filming set to take place in Beijing, China, when the press asked if she will be able to take care of her daughter then, the hands-on mother replied, "I'll bring her along if the working hours are not too long. My husband said it is okay, as long as it is safe."
Commenting on the station's recent loss of talents such as Charmaine Sheh and Wong Hei, Ada let on that she still has two to three years left with the company and reiterated that there is no need to discuss about her contract renewal with TVB at the moment.
The 38-year-old actress confessed that she does not plan to follow in the footsteps of others and raise her fees just because there is a high demand for actresses in the market.
She added, "My pay is adjusted annually. I still have many years with TVB, during which I will be loyal to the station."
It is unclear if the original cast members -- including Bowie Lam and Charmaine -- from War & Beauty, will return for the sequel.
On that note, Moses expressed that the series will not be the same without them, but added, "I'm not sure who will join the cast. I do hope it [War & Beauty 2] can live up to the name of its predecessor."
