The late Cantopop diva’s mother Tam Mei-Kam exposes her daughter’s love life through her book
Eight years ago, Hong Kong Cantopop singer Anita Mui passed away due to cervical cancer. She was 40 years old.
After her death, Anita's mother Tam Mei-Kam had been trying to gain legal claim to Anita's estate, which is estimated to be worth about HK$100 million (approximately S$16 million). However, the older woman's appeal was dismissed by the federal court last month.
In order to raise funds for the lawsuit, the 80-year-old planned to release a book about Anita's private life.
Tam revealed, "Amongst all her boyfriends, Anita loved Andy Lau the most. She really wanted to be with him. One day, she came to me and said, 'Mom, I give up. Andy already has a steady girlfriend.' She even went to Malaysia personally to verify the information."
The "steady girlfriend" was Andy's current wife Carol Zhu.
Commenting on Anita's dispute with her co-star Sandra Ng on the set of Dance of a Dream, Tam claimed that the diva came crying home because the latter was chosen to play Andy's girlfriend in the movie.
Tam let on that other than revealing Anita's love life, she would also tell her daughter's experience of meeting members of a triad in a pub, which caused the singer to go into hiding for several months.
Other major events in Anita's life would also be found in the yet-to-be-released book.
