Grateful for family’s support
Tavia Yeung’s role in Moonlight Resonance, “Lo Lui” has given Tavia Yeung recognition in her acting career.
Besides receiving awards based on this role, her role also gave deep impressions on audiences and earned praises from them too.
This year is her 10th year since she entered this industry. In 1999, (should be 1998) she graduated from TVB 13th Acting Training Class. From the cultivation from TVB, she took part in more than 30 series. There were minor roles, supporting roles and also 2nd female lead roles. Recently, she even became main female lead and slowly, she finally built her success in this field.
“I will not feel proud!” When Tavia Yeung received Best Supporting Actress, this was her speech on the stage that night.
Based on her willing to learn attitudes and her humbleness all these years, these are part of the reasons of her success today. As for those that helped her, she felt grateful to all of them. “Most important is to thank all the colleagues in my company, those that helped me before and those that collaborated with me before. However, those that I want to thank them personally are my family, my fans and also my manager. They grew up with me together and they were the one accompanied me all the time no matter when I was happy or sad.”
Manager is just like her good friend. On the 2nd year after she entered this industry, her manager started to manage her. “We have gone through a lot of things. All my works were managed by her. She brought me out for promotions, movies and advertisements. I admit that my temper is not very good and do not like to listen to other peoples but I will listen and do whatever she said. Other than my family, she is a very important person in my life.”
Family is always most important for her. Tavia Yeung’s new year’s resolution last year was to re-open the handicraft gift shop that was closed down before for her mother.
“My mother likes to do handicraft. I like DIY as well. That time, my mother opened a handicraft gift shop and I learnt a lot from her. That time I wanted my mother to have rest for quite some time first and after her health condition gets better, I will find another new shop and let my mother to become a boss again.”
Tavia Yeung learnt good skills in handicrafts. This was because her mother taught her a lot and she would always knit scarf and gave to her friends as birthday presents. “They would feel special and my sincerity when I knitted scarf to them. The feelings were different. I would use my break time from filming to knit scarf. This is quite a good “leisure hobby”.
Perfectionist - Does housework to reduce pressures
She was just like a tomboy since small. Until she entered acting training class, then only she knew how to use makeup products. All these while, she seldom used her appearance to attract attention. She said that she hoped that everyone will concentrate on her acting instead. “I’m a very simple person and will not think complicatedly. I do not like to go out at night unless there are special events. If not, it will be quite hard to see me in public events. If there is time, I rather put it in sleeping so I can recharge my batteries. I always busy in my work and always do not have enough energy.”
Recently, she was busy with the filming of The Stars Of Love and the series talks about zodiac. Tavia’s role is a Virgo girl that is a perfectionist. She is a Virgo in the series and also in real life and she admitted that she really resembles a Virgo girl.
“Virgo is a perfectionist and likes clean. I’m also a perfectionist and hope that I can do the best but I will not go too far for it. Due to this, I gave myself invisible pressures. Before this series, I did not know much about zodiacs. However, now I know much more about zodiacs but I will not be too superstitious about it. I will just treat it as a reference to have a look on my lucks. But I always forget what I have seen hahaha. No matter good or bad, I will forget it very fast so I just treat it as a game only.”
Tavia Yeung who likes clean, will always does house chores when she is not working. However, because of this, she was written by HK media as “Because of getting popular, Tavia Yeung is under pressure and always do house chores to reduce pressures. She needs to mop floor in the middle of night and then only can sleep after that.” She smiled and said, “I do not like to exercise. So I treat mopping floor as a kind of exercise. When I was not working, I would do house chores and this could reduce my work pressures. When the house is clean, I can stay more comfortably. But it was not as exaggerated as what they wrote. I was already sleeping in the middle of night. How could I still doing house chores at that time?”
Believes in fate – Admires Takeshi Kaneshiro
When talked about love relationship, she will chase for stable love relationship. When she meets someone that is suitable, she hopes that the relationship can lasts forever. “I believe in love at first sight. However, the love relationship between peoples only can last long when it develops with time. I think that love at first sight is only exciting at that certain time only. I believe in fate and also waiting for fate.”
If she found a person that she likes, she is willing to contribute for him. “I will learn how to cook. However, it will not for now due to my busy work and tight schedules. Moreover, I’m yet to meet someone that is suitable for me. If I meet such person one day, I will learn to cook something that he likes to eat.”
She will concentrate on her career for now and she will not rush into finding her life partner. “I prefer someone which is mature and stable. However, if I’m destined to be with sunshine type of guys, it is also ok for me. I will not ask for my life partner to be as handsome as my idol, Takeshi Kaneshiro. This is because I know idol and life partner is different and I’m a very reality person.”
Talked about her idol, Takeshi Kaneshiro, although there was no fate for them to be together, but if there is chances for them to collaborate together in series, then she will be satisfied. “I really like Takeshi Kaneshiro and he is my idol. Sometimes, I hope that I have chance to collaborate with him. However, I’m afraid that after I get into contact with him, my imagination towards him will vanish. Can say is love and hate. I want to keep the imagination towards him hahaha.”
Secret for skincare – Maintain a cheerful attitude
Skincare is woman’s favourite topic. Tavia Yeung has her own ways in maintaining good skincare. “Normally I need to wear makeup during work. Therefore, when I’m not working, I will let my skin to rest! There is no ugly woman in this world and there is only lazy woman in this world. I suggest that every woman has to maintain good skincare and need to drink water regularly every day.”
3 years ago. H2O was very popular in HK. It became famous product used by artistes and many artistes have endorsed the product in HK. This time, Tavia Yeung is the spokesperson for H2O in Malaysia and her natural image really fit the specialty of this product.
Attitude is also one of the main concepts in maintaining good skincare. “Stay happily is very important. I was in this industry for so many years. I did not mind receiving minor roles, supporting roles or main roles. If I have the conditions to do better, then I don’t even have the need to worry more about it and I can rise in different positions in different stages. I believe that as long as I work hard, everybody will see that. Always carry a usual manner is enough.”
Never giving up is Tavia Yeung’s motto in her acting career all these years. It is an attitude that the young generations now should learn!
