Denise Ho invited her parents, Sammi Cheng, Hilary Tsui, Wilfred Lau and At 17 to officiate the opening of her boutique stall 「Hall 1 C Shop」at Causeway Bay. Hilary was half an hour late for the occasion and made everyone wait for her.
The event attracted a sizable number of fans to crowd the venue. Some fans even arrive as early as eight in the morning to queue and make a sweep for all merchandise available. Noob stall owner Denise said the stall will only open for a week but the preparation for it took 4 months and she was at the stall the previous night to do stock take. Though it's hard work, but seeing the encouraging sale figures made it all worthwhile to her. Denise also said the unexpected strong turnout for the event has made her worried that she might not have enough stock to meet the demand.. However, Denise didn't want to overstock her supplies.
Since some items are limited edition goods, would she be worried about the price speculation on those goods? Denise laughed and said that customers cant purchase multiple pieces of the same limited edition item, it's strictly one per pax deal. In the event that stocks ran out at the stall, arrangements will be made to mail the items as it will take several days for new supplies to be available.
The rosy sales has prompted calls for Denise to have a permanent shop space for her merchandise. Thus, this in effect is a test to Denise. If there's an opportunity again, Denise would want to give it another shot. When asked if she made too little from her singing career as such she is strategizing this as a fall back? She didn't dismiss it as an option and this experience has made her felt that she isn't a klutz for business because she did all the work for the shop to materialize. Denise's pals all teased about her splitting into two.
Sammi came to support Hocc despite her busy schedule.
In a show of support, Sammi went to the opening wearing a Goomusic limited edition tee. When asked what she would buy from the stall, Sammi laughed :" I was thinking of asking Denise what she would give to me. I want the towel, the bag, the mug... though Ah C gave me some tees. (That's all?) I thought I would get pressies." However, Sammi emphasized that Denise is her good friend. She would turn up for the opening no matter how busy she is.
When told that Denise referred her as 「Idling Sister」 (going around doing good deeds and helping others), Sammi said she is very busy as she just finished her New Zealand Tour recently and commented that for the past few days, she traveled on a plane more than she did on a bus. But since she is in chummy terms with Denise, being busy does not get in the way for her to show up. Denise also commented that the stall would go bankrupt if she paid Sammi to officiate the opening. Sammi in response, has this to say : "I am very affordable. Even if it's true, I wont made her pay la. Know what to do la. Treat me to a meal. "
Sammi said that most East Asia artistes have a strong sense of camaraderie and often help each other out. Denise teased that Sammi didn't even attend the spring reception but came to her stall opening instead. Sammi explained that alot of people attended the spring reception so her absence would not have been felt. Coming to the opening is more symbolic since Denise moved her with sincerity.
