Andy Lau Appeal to People to Value and Respect Disabled Athletes; Filming Public Service Announcement in Beijing

Andy Lau’s “Everyone is No. 1” is the song used in public service announcements for the Chinese Federation of Disability (中國殘疾聯合會). Andy Lau is the goodwill ambassador and participated in the public service announcements. He appealed for everyone to value and respect disabled athletes. The commercial was filmed in Beijing and Andy’s partner in the commercial was Chen-Tao Sung (宋晨濤). He holds the record in the federation for the 200m sprint from 1996-2004. Chen-Tao injured his right leg in a railway accident and he has participated in the Paralympics for 13 years. He just retired. Andy and Chen-Tao was chatting on the track about Chen-Tao’s record. Andy motioned that he ran 100m in 11.3 seconds but it was 20 years ago. Andy joked that Chen-Tao should not run too fast when they were filming the commercial.

In the commercial, Andy and other disabled athletes were running on the track field. There were athletes of different nationalities at the track field. It brings out the Olympic and Paralympics spirit and message.

Andy has financially supported Hong Kong Paralympics athletes going to the Olympics since ten years ago. If he has time, he would attend the Paralympics. One of Andy’s unforgettable moments was watching Chinese swimmer, 何軍權, in competition at the Athens Paralympics. He became emotional and had tears in his eyes when he thought about it. He revealed that he would be going to Beijing in September to cheer on the disabled athletes. He hopes his fans would be coming along.
