TVB: The Majority Supports Gillian Chung

Gillian Chung was the first female victim to come forward in the wake of the sex pictures of celebrities. This Sunday, February 17, will be her first public performance since the incident. She will sing songs with her partner Charlene Choi at the TVB charity event 《 雪 中 送 暖 》. But audiences have complained and TVB confirmed they have received eight formal complaints. They request the cancellation of Gillian’s segment. But TVB believe that there would be more people who would support Gillian’s performance. They are determined to keep Gillian’s performance for the charity event.

The event will be held 《 雪 中送 暖 》 on Sunday, from 8:30-10:00 pm at TVB station in Tseung Kwan O. There will be a strong cast of artistes at the charity event. But the main draw for the event will be Twins due to the scandal’s effect.

The assistant director of public relations, 曾醒明, confirmed that they received 3 e-mail and 5 phone calls which expressed their concerns. They all objected to Gillian appearing at 《 雪 中 送 暖 》 event after Gillian’s performance was made public. He expressed that he respects freedom of speech but TVB wants to gather more artistes to make the charity event better.

《 雪 中 送 暖 》 producer, 衛 世 輝 pointed out that there was only two days left before the event. Scheduling is tight and it is difficult to make changes. Also Gillian made a statement about the scandal and said that she will work hard. So the segment with Gillian and Charlene singing will not change.

Yesterday, some audiences started 「 投 訴 阿 嬌 大 行 動 」 (complains against Gillian) which received attention and response. Some netizen responded: “Very good. We need to unite to awaken gullible fans. Fight against the evildoer of the century.” The netizen also provided the broadcasting authority’s e-mail and postal address. It was to help other netizen write complaint letters and send e-mail. Since the program was not broadcasted yet, the broadcasting authority board has not “received” the complaints so far.
