Television star Angela Tong Yin-ying was slapped three times in the face in broad daylight yesterday. The suspect, a man aged 33, was still in police custody last night.
The incident happen at noon when the 32-year-old Television Broadcast actress and her two assistants were window shopping outside a gift shop on Johnson Road in Wan Chai.
A man suddenly came up to Tong and allegedly slapped her three times before trying to run away, according to police.
Tong and her assistants chased after the man, who was later arrested by police at nearby Tai Yuen Street. The police are still investigating the motive for the attack.
After winning the Miss Chinese Montreal Pageant in 1994, Tong represented Montreal to compete in the Miss Chinese International Pageant the following year.
She was then recruited by TVB as an actress and has appeared in numerous dramas and variety shows.
