THEY are the perfect pair in the eyes of the audience.
Bosco Wong (top) and Myolie Wu (above) took pains not to be photographed together when they were in Singapore.
They even won the Most Popular On-Screen Couple title at the 2006 TVB Popularity Awards.
Since appearing together in the drama serial Wars Of In-Laws in 2005, Hong Kong celebs Bosco Wong and Myolie Wu have been romantically linked despite their constant denials.
Most recently, Myolie's father was reported to have lavished praise on Bosco, saying that he was a good guy, and even urged the two to tie the knot soon.
But when they were in town over the weekend - along with fellow TVB actors Bobby Au Yeung, Kevin Cheng, Charmaine Sheh and Wong Hei to promote their new drama serials - Bosco and Myolie not only rejected talk about being a real-life pair, they also took pains to stay away from each other.
They were assigned neighbouring seats at the press conference on Saturday, but they resisted speaking to each other even while Charmaine, Bobby and Kevin bantered heartily with one another.
Only once, when everyone's attention was somewhere else, did Myolie utter something discreetly to Bosco.
Then, when the six TVB artistes stood up and gathered around a large mixing plate to lohei (toss yusheng), Bosco instantly moved away from Myolie and quickly planted himself next to Bobby.
In fact, during the subsequent interview sessions, when our photographer asked the rumoured lovers to have a picture taken together, they refused.
Despite that, they claimed they were not keeping their distance from each other.
Bosco, 27, told The New Paper: 'We won't especially avoid standing together or stay away from each other. It doesn't matter, just let the organisers plan (where we are placed).'
Naturally, the two are sticking with the story that they are just friends.
Keen to emphasise that there's nothing more than friendship between them, Myolie, 28, said: 'He's a colleague... I'm not frustrated (with the talk). People enjoy watching our shows.
'It's okay when the rumours start during promotion of the serials. After the shows, we don't see each other very often anyway.'
Bosco and Myolie are part of TVB's new generation of stars which the station has been grooming.
Myolie was second runner-up in the MissHong Kong pageant in 1999 while Bosco was discovered after TVB spotted him in a commercial.
Their popularity soared after they played a couple in Wars Of In-Laws, and Bosco's performance even earned him TVB's Most Improved Actor award that year.
The sequel Wars Of In-Laws II is currently showing in Hong Kong.
Both maintained that their careers take priority.
Said Bosco: 'I don't think I'll make a good boyfriend for now. I'm always working and I am unable to take good care of others.'
Myolie agreed, saying: 'Actually I'm not particularly looking for a boyfriend since I'm very busy with work.
'Many female actresses into their 30s and 40s today are still very popular, so marriage is not a must.'
