Ada Choi, 34 years old, married mainland China actor Zhang Jin (Max) who is one year her junior. Yesterday, the new couple held the ceremony at a Baptist Church in Sai Kung. Both sets of parents were in attendance. Ada’s mother once owed HK$10 million in gambling debts. This led Ada to publicly divorce her gambling addict mother. But now, Ada’s mother is able to witness her daughter’s wedding. Ada forgave her mother after joining God’s family. Her parents separated when she was young but her father was at the ceremony also. It was a family reunion with a new addition to the family! The wedding ceremony did not start until 2:30 in the afternoon. The media were there since the morning to do interviews. The church had security personnel and metal bars to keep order.
The couple arrived at the church at 12:45 with a fleet of cars. There were a total of 8 cars. The media’s focus was the male and female leads of the day; Ada and Max. Some of the cars had the window curtains down. Ada and Max’s parents were still in the car. The new couple held their hands tightly in the car. No wonder Ada’s had such a blissful expression. The guests started to arrive and all of TVB’s artistes seemed to have come to give Ada away. The “cast” was better than TVB’s anniversary. Lawrence Ng, Charmaine Sheh, Jessica Hsuan, Gigi Lai, Moses Chan, Hacken Lee, Emily Lo and Joe Ma and his wife. It glittered with stars. The wedding ceremony was behind closed doors. But the guests became very emotional. A guest described the wedding ceremony to the media. Ada’s father gave her away and the groom sang “Emmanuel” in Cantonese. The song meant being together with God. [Max?] became intensely emotional and cried when Ada approached him. The soft voice and the atmosphere touched each guests and many couldn’t control their tears. Max made his love declaration in front of the guests to love Ada for the rest of his life.
The two signed the marriage certificate, exchanged rings and gave each other a light kiss. The guests opened up white umbrellas and the couple walked underneath it. At the end of the church before the door, the guests yelled: “Mr. Cheung, Mrs. Cheung.” Ada happily responded to her new title. Max then picked up Ada and run back into the church to accept the guests congratulations. Before Ada left, she thanked her grandparents. She started to cry when she thanked her parents.Outside of the church, there was a cocktail party. There were pictures showing the two together when they were dating. Ada, Max and the bridesmaids had their pictures taken by the reporters. Max was nervous and did not appear to be comfortable with the Hong Kong media. Ada said: “I am very happy. Thank-you everyone. I am very appreciative of everyone.”There was no traditional dinner banquet. After the new couple left the church, they drove to Central and had an intimate dinner with their parents, family and close friends.Lawrence Ng is Ada’s best onscreen partner. He especially came to Hong Kong to attend her wedding. But he had to leave before the wedding was done to catch a plane. He praised that Ada and Max are a match made in heaven. Besides commending Max, he also wished that they would be together forever. Jessica Hsuan is pressuring Ada to quickly give birth. She gave a bonsai as a gift in hopes that their family would branch out. Charmaine expressed that she knew Max and gave a crystal display as a wedding gift. When Max and Ada was dating, the people surrounding them could taste the sweetness coming from them. Moses said that there were a lot of guests that cried. He smiled and said that he cried in his heart.
