Singers Singing at 10 th Anniversary for Leslie Cheung

Next Monday, April 1, will be the 10th anniversary of Gor Gor Leslie Cheung Kwok Wing's passing. His former manager Chan Suk Fun will hold two different format memorial concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum to reminisce Gor Gor's glory with fans and viewers; on Sunday the 31st many of Gor Gor's friends will participate and perform in the MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE concert. Because Gor Gor had many real friends in the business, everyone hoped to be able to do their part on this day. They included "Song God" Jacky Cheung Hok Yau, Vivian Chow Wai Man, Kelly Chen Wai Lam and Joey Yung Cho Yi, the Grasshoppers and Julian Cheung Chi Lam. They recently have already begun to rehearse for the concert in order to make this a night to remember, to provide a perfect performance for Gor Gor's friends and fans and to leave a beautiful memory.
Although the singers were busy they still took time to rehearse. This time the concert director Chan Suk Fun also attended; she not only provided suggestions for the performance but also wanted to personally thank the guests for their support for this memorial concert.
Last week during rehearsal, Cheung Hok Yau and the crew held a surprise birthday part for Mrs. Chan. He and the crew schemed and suddenly brought a cake and flowers to Mrs. Chan as they sang the birthday song. Actually March 22nd was Mrs. Chan's birthday. Hok Yau was very attentive and even presented a surprise. Mrs. Chan said that originally in order to prepare for this concert and with her friend Teacher Hui Pui's passing she planned to quietly spend this birthday, but she was surprised and touched to receive everyone's well wishes.
At the same time Mrs. Chan also thanked everyone for their support of the MISS YOU MUCH LESLIE concert. That night it will be broadcast globally for Gor fans around the world to remember Gor Gor together.

Jacky Cheung refuses to share stage with Andy Lau
Fans who wish to witness the four Heavenly Kings, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai share a stage again will be disappointed, as sources revealed that Andy and Jacky declined to make an appearance together. There was much speculation earlier that they would be reuniting on Shanghai Dragon TV's New Year countdown show.
It is said that Jacky's side clearly indicated that the veteran singer is willing to share the stage with Leon and Aaron, but not Andy.
The show's director confirmed that though there were indeed talks with the legendary icons, the plans fell through as competition to invite the biggest stars was stiff among the various channels and each of the Heavenly King had their own work commitments and wishes.
Furthermore, the production team was not willing to take up the suggestion of combining pre-recorded clips as a solution. Though plans for รข€˜the Heavenly King reunion' were aborted, Leon Lai is set to attend the show, together with a star-studded line-up that includes Taiwanese band Mayday, Chinese singer Na Ying, South Korean actor Lee Jun Ki and more.

Jacky Cheung: My daughter has reached teenage rebellion
The 51-year-old commented that his eldest daughter, 12, has started to reach "her teenage rebellion."
"She walks away during the midst of our conversation when she is uncomfortable with the comments. She also isolates herself in her room," Jacky sighed.
Jacky denied that his daughter has a boyfriend, mentioning that she was "too young to date," but he would let her have the "freedom to date" if she really has one.
However, Jacky felt relieved that his 7-year-old younger daughter is still very close to him and likes to follow him everywhere.

Jacky Cheung holds his 100th concert show in Zhongshan (China)
The 100th show of Jacky Cheung’s ½ Century World Tour Concert took place in Zhongshan, China the day before yesterday. After the performance, Jacky’s concert manager Florence Chan arranged for a celebration event marking the concert milestone. During the event, Jacky led Mrs. Chan and her husband Chan Lau Chuan in an ice-breaking ceremony; at the same time, they also held a drawing with prizes as a means of thanking the concert team for their hard work.
In a few days, Jacky will be heading to Malaysia, where he will hold 4 shows on his concert tour, then after that, he will take a short break to be with his family. At the end of the month (December), he will ring in the 2012 New Year with his fans in Macau, as he will perform 4 shows at the Venetian Resort over there. Originally, only 3 shows were scheduled for Macau, however due to all tickets being quickly sold out, an extra show was added for the 29th [TN: the 4 shows for Macau will run from December 29, 2011 to January 1, 2012]. The number of shows in both Malaysia and Macau breaks the records for number of concert shows held in those countries.

Ricky Hui Passes In Peace

Famous comedy actor Ricky Hui Koon Ying earlier passed away due to heart disease at the age of 65. His family yesterday held a wake and the funeral will take place today at noon.
Yesterday around 3PM three to four security guards erected barriers outside the hall to prevent media coverage, but reporters through the barrier gaps peeked into the hall and saw white cloth decorations with white roses all over. In the center was a photo of a smiling Hui Koon Ying with his arms crossed in a brown military uniform style shirt. The banner across wrote "FOREVER MISSED". On both sides were "Puffer Fish's" favorite eagle designs. At the entrance were an eagle display and condolence book, as well as a crystal photo frame with a smaller scale photo. The hall also kept playing videos from "Puffer Fish's" past films like MR. COCONUT (HUP GA FOON), ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL TOO (FA TIN HEI SI) and CHICKEN AND DUCK TALK (GAI TUNG NGAP GONG). Inside and outside the hall were floral arrangements from "Puffer Fish's" friends like Andy Lau Tak Wa, Jacky Cheung Hok Yau and May Law Mei Mei, Adam Cheng Siu Chau, Chin Siu Ho, Raymond Wong Pak Ming, Clifton Ko Chi Sum, Nat Chan Pak Cheung and Wong Hung Sau, Ng Man Tat, Meg Lam Kin Ming, Peter Lam Kin Ngok, Peter Chan Ho Sun and Sandra Ng Kwan Yu, Bernice Liu Bik Yi, Leo Ku Kui Ke, TVB, RTHK and others. Yesterday, Jacky Cheung interviewed with HK Commercial Radio to promote his new album << Private Corner>>. He says that he will consider doing an autograph signing event, but it definitely won’t be a “hugging” event. Laughing, he states: “I am already at the ‘father’ level, unless people have a certain affection for ‘fathers’!” Jacky emphasized that hugging is a form of etiquette, so in a way, he doesn’t really mind fans hugging him: “Hugging and even a kiss on the cheek is fine, but any further touching that crosses the line is not acceptable.”
Regarding Faye Wong’s comeback concert, if held in Hong Kong, the cost of tickets could be as high as HKD$1500, Jacky agreed that it was worth it and is in accordance with the needs of the market: “Faye Wong coming out of retirement is a good thing because no one can replace her in the industry. As for myself, I like to have more people come watch my concert, so I prefer not to make the ticket prices too high.”
Recently, TVB released the promotional trailer for their upcoming film <<72 Tenants of Prosperity>> – though Jacky’s scenes are part of the trailer, there were no interviews with him. Jacky indicated: “Not surprising, but it’s not within my control. I can’t force people to interview me.” Eric Tsang and the rest of the cast appeared on TVB’s <> to promote the film without him? “I wasn’t aware…perhaps they didn’t need me. I don’t mind not being interviewed, but if my voice were to be completely removed from the film itself, then I would be worried.” In terms of appearing on ATV’s music variety shows, Jacky expressed that it depends upon how the situation turns out and the arrangements that his record company makes.

No reunion for the Four Heavenly Kings

In an effort to help contribute to the relief fund for the victims of Typhoon Morakot, Hong Kong celebrities like Andy Lau, Alan Tam, and Eric Tsang came together to organize the Artistes 88 Fund Raising Campaign. The charity programme took place two nights ago and was participated by over 300 Hong Kong artistes featuring the likes of the four Heavenly Kings, Andy Lau, Leon Lai, Aaron Kwok and Jacky Cheung, Gigi Leung, Cai Qin, Eason Chan, and Sammi Cheng.
The charity show began with the combined effort of all the stars as they sang to the tune of Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" with self-penned lyrics. All celebrities present at the event donned white plain t-shirts that were imprinted with a map of Taiwan. In a bid to raise more money for the victims of this disaster, Alan Tam lent his vocals throughout the show, and even auctioned off his trophy from the Golden Horse Awards (for a year) and a white jade statue of the Bodhisattva Guan Yin, raising a total of S$200,000.
A total of S$10 million was raised from the successful event. Although the event was supposed to be a reunion stage for the four Heavenly Kings, attempts to get them up together remained unsuccessful as they each took turns to perform separately.
The main organizer of this fund raiser, Andy, appealed to his Taiwanese fans and instructed them to donate their travel funds to the relief instead of travelling to Hong Kong in September for his birthday. An equally bighearted Jacky expressed, "Although I cannot represent the entire of Hong Kong's citizens, however, I can say that most of us are concerned for Taiwan. When there is trouble, we will feel the pain too. If you feel that my presence in the disaster areas will be a great source of comfort, I will be there! I am only afraid of hindering the work of the rescue team."

Artistes 88 Fund Raising Campaign was held at AsiaWorld-Expo last night. There was no glamourous stage nor costumes, all 300 performers from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan all wore white.
There are no cheers or light sticks, everybody gathered together no to watch an exciting performance but to tell the troubled Taiwanese typhoon victims that they are not alone, all cheered “Taiwan you can do it!”.
To support the Taiwan rescue works, initial by the Hong Kong Performing Artiste Guild, 24 organization and media collaborate in this 4-hours Artistes 88 Fund Raising Campaign, using songs to urge for donations, up till 11:30pm, with adding to the money collected from internet and donation boxes, a total of $50900,000 was collected.
More than 100 singers sang the theme song ‘Tao Tao Qian Li Xin’ for the opening of the event. There are 13 comperes for the event which includes Nat Chan, Sandra Ng, Paw Hee Ching, Sally Wu, Sylvia Chang, Harlem Yu and other representatives from TV and radio stations. More than 300 artistes performed included Eric Tsang, Alan Tam, Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok, Sammi Cheng, Miriam Yeung, Hacken Li, Leo Ku, Vivian Chow, David Tao, Cai Qin, Jam Hsiao and many others.
Last night, Andy was running around the stage throughout the night, he duet with Sammi Cheng in ‘He Cai’, then duet Hokkien song ‘Tian Xia Di Yi Deng’ with Richie Ren to encourage Taiwan, then duet ‘Peng You’ with Nat Chan, Alan Tam and Wynners.
The highlights of the event was the Four Heavenly Kings performed on the stage again, this is the first time that they appeared on stage at the same time since the 2007 Hong Kong handover 10 anniversary gala show.

Yesterday Joyce Cheng attended Lydia Shum's "Happy Fruit Exhibition" along with Deborah Lai, Connie Chan, Nat Chan and Jacky Cheung. At the opening ceremony, "Lydia's Performing Arts Collection" was used to start the donation ceremony. Many guests attended to share the event and spoke about Lydia's life. When Joyce went on stage to make her speech, clips of her mother was broadcasting behind her, when Joyce saw those images she began tearing up. Afterwards, Joyce expressed that this exhibition went through a year of preparations, she was at the event and saw the clothes that her mother once wore, she felt very emotional. She said: "I was holding onto my mother's belongings and could not help but cry. (Did you invite your dad?) Yes, but he currently in Mainland filming." Also, today is Lydia's day for Chinese offerings. Joyce expressed that she would go Xinyi Fukuyama to honor her mother.
In Taiwan where Adam Cheng is currently filming for a new Taiwanese drama, he was asked about Lydia's exhibition. Jacky Cheung ended his one year long vacation and has fully resumed work, his upcoming schedule includes releasing a new album, filming and holding a concert. Concerning not enough unity in the music industry award ceremonies nowadays, Jacky as ๆญ็ฅ/God of Songs felt he is unable to remedy the situation, he lamented: "I've said for over 10 years but no one would listen!"
Yesterday, Jacky was at Hong Kong Disneyland to attend an event named ็ฆๅฐๆปฟๅ่ณ้็, together with Mickey Mouse they beat on a drum to celebrate Chinese New Year approaching, his appearance attracted several hundred people to pack the streets of Main Street USA. After resting for one year to spend time with his family, Jacky declared that he has formally resumed work this year, he said: "I will film a movie in March, at the end of the year there will be a new album and a concert will be held at the end of 2010. (Who is the director of the new movie?) I cannot say yet, it is not a big budget production. (Is the script good?) It will be filmed in Hong Kong, big productions have to be filmed overseas for several months and this is not possible, I just want to satisfy my craving to act."

Yesterday, Jacky was at Hong Kong Disneyland to attend an event named ็ฆๅฐๆปฟๅ่ณ้็, together with Mickey Mouse they beat on a drum to celebrate Chinese New Year approaching, his appearance attracted several hundred people to pack the streets of Main Street USA. Later, together with animation movie Bolt 3D/่ถ ็ด้ถ้ถ็'s main character Bolt and cat Mittens, they wished all visitors an early Happy Chinese New Year, the scene was lively.
After resting for one year to spend time with his family, Jacky declared that he has formally resumed work this year, he said: "I will film a movie in March, at the end of the year there will be a new album and a concert will be held at the end of 2010. (Who is the director of the new movie?) I cannot say yet, it is not a big budget production. (Is the script good?) It will be filmed in Hong Kong, big productions have to be filmed overseas for several months and this is not possible, I just want to satisfy my craving to act."

'God of Songs' Feels Pain of Investment Losses
Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung lost money after investing in products linked to bankrupt Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc, Hong Kong-based Ming Pao reported Thursday.
Cheung, who said he put money into fixed deposits for many years, bought the products and the so-called accumulators on the advice of bank employees, the newspaper cited him as saying in a television interview.
He didn't identify the bank that sold him these products or the exact amount he lost. "I lost half of my investment," he was quoted in the report. "It is said that Eric Tsang (Hong Kong actor) suffered much bigger losses."

The "Four Kings" and their love lives
Back in the early 1990s the "Four Kings", Andy Lau, Jacky Cheung, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai were the most influential and popular male singers. The concert will be held in Chongqing Olympic Sport Centre which has 40,000 seats. The concert is called "Miss You Much Leslie"
The stage design and the lighting would be different from the last concert. This time the bridge would be a complete bridge, meaning there is contact with Leslie. New comers Dicky Cheung, Patrick Tam and William So use ็ถๅนดๆ as the theme. They will be singing Leslie's songs. The other guests include Deanie Yip, Julian Cheung, Joyce Cheng, Wang Hui, Winnie Hsin and The Grass Hoppers will also be performing. They want to spend the night with Leslie through his music.
