Stephen Fung keeps love life low-key

The actor-director dismissed wedding rumours and remained secretive about his alleged relationship with Shu Qi

'It's not true. I'm not married yet,' emphasised Stephen Fung at a promotional event on Monday.

The Hong Kong actor-director became the centre of attention at the event as it was his first public appearance, following rave speculations on his alleged relationship with longtime friend, Taiwanese screen siren Shu Qi recently.

The intimate friendship between the pair immediately raised eyebrows after they have been sighted travelling together on many occasions and caught'flirting' with each other via their microblog updates. The tabloids also reported the rumoured lovebirds had registered their marriage in the United States earlier this month.

Stephen dismissed all wedding claims, but remained tight-lipped when asked if he is dating Shu Qi currently.

The 39-year-old commented, 'I prefer to keep my personal life low-key. I'll not announce to the public even when I get married in future.'

Meanwhile, Stephen was believed to have indirectly admitted his relationship with the actress after he hinted that both of them have been 'meeting up often for work'.

'It's absolutely normal for good friends to do so [meet up],' he added.

He was unfazed about Hong Kong artiste, Stephen Chow's public love confession to Shu Qi, and felt it was just a 'promotional tactic for his new movie'.

The "goddess" in the Chinese film industry longs to be in a stable relationship and hopes to settle down soon. Shu Qi, 36, sparked speculations when she shared a sentimental post on her microblog on Dec 21 -- the rumoured date of "Doomsday".
At around midnight, she wrote: "We did not know how to treasure each other in the past. My dear, if we survive the end of the world today [Dec 21], and you are keen to try again, we must not miss this chance to get together once more."

Eason Chan: Lying inside the coffin in new Music Video

Eason's music video " Rewind Life" 倒帶人生 was directed by his good friend Stephen Fung. At the end of the MV, it depicts Eason, dressed as "count dracular" lying inside a coffin surrounded by white candles. Vivian Tsui, a cool black widow was by his side. Stephen was appeared in the MV as a clown. Eason will be going to Taiwan again to promote 'Don't Want To Let Go" 不想放手.


The music video is schedule to be released in July (lunar calender). Reporter asked him what does he think about this weird ghostly MV, which is totally against the traditional style of the music video, Eason responded "I fully respected the director's artistic talents." Speaking of Vivian Tsui who visited the recording studio while Stephen was filming, Eason responded " I am innocent."

The DVD version of Stephen Chan's " Be My Guest" was out the other day. Yesterday Stephen was at the book fair to promote the DVD. Gigi Lai and Roger Kwok were there also to support. They attracted a large crowd. Specially signed autographs were also given out. At one point it was very chaotic.

Gigi is looking after her brother's clinic now. She took a day off to attend the book fair to show support for Stephen Chan. Reporter asked if she would continue to work for TVB. Gigi told reporter she would wait till the end of the year to decide. She told reporter her brother is recovering well but still needs to rest. Gigi revealed that she has learnt a lot during the time when she is at the clinic. She learnt about the skin problem, administration and accounting. She was asked if she would change her job to do business now. Gigi laughed " Of course not, I miss filming . I get the script from TVB sometimes. But I will wait till the end of the year to decide. I am enjoying working 9-5 . Asked if she would write a book about her brother's experience? She replied " Maybe later, I am learning and working at the same time."

Gigi is looking after her brother's health as well as his career. Would she want someone to look after her too? Gigi disclosed that she goes to church to find comfort. She will take it easy in terms of looking for a boyfriend.

Yesterday, it was the first collaboration between Stephen Fung and Karen Mok after they announced their break-up. Karen would appear in a short film that would be directed by Stephen. She would be the female lead and the male lead would be Daniel Wu. After the group pictures, Stephen left because he had to oversee the set-up. Karen and Daniel stayed to do an interview.

Stephen revealed that he didn’t make a decision about cutting Edison Chen’s scene in “Jump” yet. If you didn’t cut Edison’s scene, would you worried about the movie’s box office since the audience may be boycotting him? Stephen admitted: “Truthfully, I was worried about the movie since the start. I was in disbelief and blaming him. But he came out and gave an explanation.
