Roger Kwok No Confidence for TV King, Hopes for a Miracle

Health product HERBS celebrated their 15th anniversary last night and invited their spokesperson Roger Kwok to their banquet. Roger brought his whole family with him, including wife Cindy Au and their two children. His eldest son, Brad Kwok, was very active and full of expressions on cameras, just like his father. Roger expressed he's usually busy with work and is rarely able to have dinner with his family. When asked how confident he is to grab the TV King title this year? Roger said he has no confidence, "I hope for a miracle! The public voting system is a new attempt this year. (Raymond Lam has so many fans?) I will actively try to more votes for myself. Just in HERBS, we have 100,000 members who can vote for me. I'll also tell my son to help me get more votes back at school. But I'll be flying over to Malaysia soon, because my role in Queens was nominated for an award. It is unfortunate my series aired so early in the year, in terms of momentum, it definitely cannot compare to the series that broadcasted later in the year, especially for Wayne Lai is very strong."

Roger Kwok & Fala Chen disregard the 'poaching calls'

Wednesday September 28, 2011 Hong Kong

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Fala Chen and Roger Kwok were shooting in TVB City for new series Schemes of East and West. When speaking of the recent poaching crisis, the two expressed they have received the SMS too. Roger received a phone call from Ricky Wong's secretary: "I already declined. I want to focus on my work, if there is an opportunity we can discuss again!" TVB executive Virgina Lok expressed she will give pay raises, Roger expressed in excitement that he supports the idea: "When will it be my turn? In fact, I just recently signed a per-series contract, one series a year. So what if they give double the pay? The most important is to have more people watch the series, I still choose TVB."

It was rumored Fala Chen was one of the 10 stars Ricky Wong wants to target. She expressed she received a call from an unknown caller, but temporarily does not plan to leave TVB: "Everyone gets the SMS, is that no face? However, I still have a long contract, haven't though of leaving." Asked if she doesn't get TV Queen, will she go over? She did not respond directly, just said she hasn't thought about awards.

As to the frequent 'change of parties' rumor, sometimes she's with Virgina Lok and other times she's with Catherine Tsang, Fala made a clever response, expressing that they are all her bosses.

Roger Kwok on call 24/7 ready to accompany wife into labor anytime

Source: Mingpao
Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Roger Kwok attended TVB series Wax and Wane promotional event yesterday along with Ron Ng, Kate Tsui, Irene Wong and the rest of the cast. Soon to be a father for the second time, Roger's wife Cindy Au is expected to due in July. However, the doctor already warned the couple that they should not leave HK starting mid-June. Roger said with interest: "I am now always having my cell phone in my pants pocket. If I suddenly feel vibration in my pockets while I'm doing an interview, I will immediately leave. Everyone, please excuse me."

Yesterday it was reported that it is difficult for the Hong Kong pregnant women to get labor services, therefore some are forced to choose to give birth in Singapore or even in Mainland. Roger expressed he has already made labor arrangements, so he has not been bothered by that issue. He said: "Singapore is a very good city too, even if we go back to Mainland with a Mainland ID card, that is not bad either because in the future, I will be focusing my career development up north. The people of HK really understand how to make decisions." Roger expressed that he does not plan to add another family member in yet. TVB is also very understanding of his situation, and have not given him any jobs before September. He doesn't mind taking ribbon cutting or opening ceremony jobs to make extra milk money.

Ron Ng and Roger Kwok fight at the cemetery

Source: Oriental Daily
Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

Ron Ng, Roger Kwok, Kate Tsui and Toby Leung were in Happy Valley's cemetery shooting for new TVB series . The scene talked about Ron and Roger using force on each other, Ron frankly said that he's not afraid of damaging the actual tombstones at the location and disrupting the "residents".

Ron said: "I have been the the cemetery to shoot outdoor scenes a few times, we follow the rules and didn't step on top of the area with tombstones. The crew gave out lucky red envelopes and I am carrying a "ping on fu" for luck, so not scared!"

Ron has seen Joyce Cheng's disguise as Kate Tsui promotional clip, he said: "I thought Kate went on , Joyce did a great job pretending to be Kate, she looked really similar. Joyce works hard and had lots of improvements. She's a great entertainer, having great potential in filming series and being on talent shows, just like Lydia Shum. I can see she puts great effort into her work. (When is it your turn to diguise as someone else?) Nah, I'm not good at it."

Kate also saw Joyce pretending to be her: "I admire her doing all the homework beforehand. I'm honored that someone is mimicing me, I want to try too, but I haven't thought of who yet. If there's a chance I really hope to collaborate with Joyce and Wong Cho Lam in pretending to be someone else."

Toby Leung was recently involved in a car accident and is currently waiting for the police to ask her about the situation. She called the other party involved in the accident and its nothing serious.

Bumps into Ella Koon and Elanne Kong again

Also, yesterday afternoon Ron, old rumored girlfriend Ella Koon and Elanne Kong attended an event together. Ron generously asked Ella who was dressed sexily to take a picture with him. Elanne was actually surprised, Ron said: "I'm not embarrassed. (Really glamorous?) There's so many pretty girls from the company who attended, I do feel its quite glamorous. I haven't seen Ella a whole year, I just said Hi to her. (You are so generous.) I'm the guy, have to be the gentlemen." Elanne said: "Ron took good care of me while we were filming the series, he is very gentlemen. (Your not sexy enough?) I have never been responsible for being sexy."

Roger Kwok vows to beat Chai Gau "Rosy Business"

Translated by: aZnangel @ http://asianuniverse.net/forums/

TVB's new series "The Threshold of A Persona" starring Roger Kwok, Yoyo Mung and Patrick Tang were in their Immigration Department (ID) uniforms and used their most powerful poses to accept the "Rosy Business" time slot. Roger laughed: "There is some momentum this time, I believe that I will beat Wayne Lai, fighting for the highest rating." Asked if replacing "Rosy Business' time slot, is there any pressure? Roger said: "Their ratings are really strong, a real good 'dog' (Chai Gau[dog]) . We are the elite forces, we also hope to fight for the highest rating." Yoyo has confidence for this series: "Originally the series was suppose to be only 20 episodes, but then they changed it to 27 because the story is just too good."

Toby Leung, Raymond Cho, Kenny Wong and Raymond Wong wore anti-riot equipment weighing 20 pounds. When Toby went on stage, she had to get help from others to walk up. She was sweating up a storm afterwards, then shouted that she felt dizzy: "I feel like I'm about to throw up, about to faint. I don't dare to move too much, I don't want to use too much strength. I respect being a female.

Roger Kwok in Mainland filming, Cindy Au alone at home taking care of baby Brad herself

44 year old Roger Kwok and 29 year old Cindy Au dated for 7 years and been married for 4 years. After going through miscarriage two times, last year they finally were about to bore a baby boy. Just for their lovable son Brad Kwok (Kwok Ling San), Cindy who had been in the television industry for many years decided to just fully focus on taking care and teaching her son at home. Brad is now 14 months old.

Have never really liked a materialistic love life, Roger and Cindy although don't really have too much economic responsibilities, but in recent years TVB have been having a flood of newcomers, therefore Roger Kwok had to move over to Mainland to film series in order to earn enough money for "formula money" (baby food). Also the couple had always had plans to have another baby, but it will be quite difficult for one man to support the entire family.

Roger Kwok, Yoyo Mung, Claire Yiu and Toby Leung etc attended a water volleyball event to promote TVB series "The Threshold Of A Persona". However Roger didn't go in the pool with the rest of the cast. He stated that he didn't get enough rest because of shooting a TV series. Also people may become ill easily as the recent weather was very unstable, sometimes cold and sometimes hot. If he was ill he wouldn't be able to hold his son at home. He revealed that his wife bought several masks for children for his son to play with. He hopes that this will teach him not to refuse wearing them in the future.

Yoyo Mung was a referee for the water volleyball match. Even though she didn't need to go into the pool she wore 2 pairs of shorts in case the cast grabbed her into the water. She stated that if she was required to take shots in swimwear she wouldn't mind. But she will not play games to avoid exposing herself. Originally she was planning to go to France to visit a friend but due to the swine flu breakout she cancelled her plans.

Roger waited for his wife to gain weight before having a baby; Michelle Yim may get married at the spur of the moment

Yesterday, Roger Kwok, Esther Kwan, Michelle Yim, Vivien Yeo, Derek Kwok, Regen Cheung (from Hotcha), etc. attended the costume fitting for the new series “Five Tastes of Life”. Liza Wang visited and handed out “marriage candies”. Roger hopes that Liza and Law Ka Ying will be happy after marriage. He expressed that Liza showed her feminine side yesterday, as opposed to her usual aggressive nature. He jokingly said, “Liza is even better now, becoming the woman of all women”.

Roger’s wife Cindy Au had two miscarriages in the past. He was worried about her health, and said that if they were to have a baby again, she needs to nurture her health and gain weight. In this series, Roger will be in a relationship with Esther. He will also act out two roles. In one role he will be old and act as Michelle’s husband. Roger and Vivien will play brother and sister. Overall, he will take on roles with his age ranging from young to old.

As for Liza asking her when she will get married, Michelle laughed and said that she’s happy for her. Once she found out about Liza’s marriage, Michelle and her boyfriend sent her a text message, wishing them to be a forever loving couple. As for when she will get married? Michelle said that being happy is most important. Every year, she would go to Los Vegas for vacation with her boyfriend, but this year they did not go. When asked if she had the urge to get married when they were in Los Vegas, Michelle laughed and said, “Yes, but it was just for a short moment. (Boyfriend proposed?) Yes, but it was nothing special. He only mentioned getting married when he said others getting married”. With regards to marriage, Michelle expressed, “It depends on the mood. Maybe at the spur of the moment”.

Vivien Yeo waits to receive a large diamond stone

In the series, Vivian Yeo plays a social butterfly. Although Aloys Chen has a crush on her, she will like the rich Oscar Leung. Earlier, it was reported that Vivien is money hungry. When asked if her role in the series depicts how she is in reality? She said that it doesn’t. It was rumored many wealthy men are pursuing her and someone even gave her a pair of earrings as a birthday gift. She said, “It someone gave me a large diamond stone, I would accept it. Afterward, I would decide if it is possible for us to be together. If I know that by giving me a present, he expects me to give something to him in return, then I would not accept it. Feelings can not be expressed by money. I hope to rely on myself to make money”.

Many visitors asked Roger and Sonija for their autographs and excited Mainland visitors wanted pictures with Roger. Later Roger gave away the things that he bought, unexpectedly he gave away by mistake the lucky bamboo/富贵竹 Sonija bought to bring good luck, she didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Other than the competition between Ha Yu and Raymond Lam for TV King this year, there are also many black horses in the nominations list. Black horses include Roger Kwok, who was crowned TV King twice, Moses Chan, who was crowned TV King last year, and also received the "My Favorite Male Character" award, as well as Kevin Cheng, who is also TV King material. All three have definite chances this year, through their roles in "D.I.E.", "Moonlight Resonance", and "Last One Standing" respectively. As for their other five nominees: Kenneth Ma in "Survivor's Law II", Damian Lau in "Catch Me Now", Frankie Lam in "Forensic Heroes II", Michael Miu in "Love Exchange", and Bobby Au-Yeung in "Your Class Or Mine", they're chances are seen to be lower.

Raymond Lam's Fans Support Ha Yu

As the date for the awards ceremony approaches, netizens become more and more active. Even regular netizens believe that Ha Yu has done a very good job in the protrayal of his role in "Moonlight Resonance". Last year, he was defeated, so this year the award should definitely be his. As of now, he has more support than Raymond Lam. In particular, Raymond Lam's netizen fans believe that Raymond is still young. He should gain more experience overtime, and then receive the award when he he is more experienced. As for Roger Kwok, Moses Chan, and Kevin Cheng, they all have supporters as well. This is especially true for Kevin Cheng, since "Last One Standing" has just finished airing recently. His portrayal of a character who is both good and bad has received many praises.

These good results however, was inperfect as the Hong Kong Broadcasting Authority has received 20 complaints regarding this show. The main complaints are about the excessive violence and blood in this drama.

Tong Lap Yin (Roger Kwok) is still revengeful

During the last few minutes, there was a scene of Roger Kwok sleeping in his bed at prison but suddenly awakes with revengeful feelings. This scene had made audience feel that the storyline hasnt ended and has been discussing if there is a continuation of the drama next year.

Response from TVB

The Producer for this series,Wong Sum Wai has responded that the ending of a revengeful Tong Lap Yin is to tell the audience that his attititude has not changed, even he was in jail. He was evil from the beginning to the end. In the last moments of the show,Tong Lap Yin misunderstood his ex girlfriend Carmen (Yoyo Meng) has been dating Cheung Seng Hei (Kevin Cheng),thus he became revengeful and was very angry that he awaked suddenly while he was sleeping.

Last One Standing II?!

Asked if there is a continuation of the drama, the producer replied that although a continuation of "Last One Standing II" has not been planned, there will also be a possibility that there is a continuation as the storyline still has spaces of development.

Male Leads Praised

Wong Sun Wai (the producer) has claimed that she has expected such rating points. Some audiences liked the show, but some do not as they claimed it was too gore. Despite this,Wong has praised the 2 male leads,Kevin Cheng's acting skills, and Roger Kwok's ability to act evil roles. Asked if Kevin Cheng has a chance of using his role in this series to win the "TV King" award? Wong daren't answer, just saying that his results are satisfactory and he has a breakthrough in his acting.

Roger Kwok does not mind there is no Gold in this year's trophy

This year, 3D GOLD whom has always sponsered TVB's trophy has withdrawn due to its bankruptcy. The GOLD trophy that 3D GOLD sponsered will be replaced by other materials. Asked if Roger Kwok would mind,he said "Every year, the Trophy costs more than $10,000. It has the meaning of prestige and sublime. This year, the trophy might be made of other materials,i hope the colleagues won't mind. I won't mind too, because i think the trophy would be very creative and special as its made of other materials."

For the first episode,he has invited Sandra Ng and Roger Kwok as a guest. Although he has not been a host for 14 years,Leo Ku was not at all nervous on stage. He says "I have spend 1 month preparing for tonight." (Being a host just before the awards season, arent you afraid that it will cause rumours and suspect?) Kiki Sheung willing to be Kevin Cheng's 7th One

Kiki Sheung willing to be Kevin Cheng's 7th One

Recently many rumors has been surrounding Kevin Cheng, last night he attended the "Last One Standing" thanking dinner and was teased by Kiki Sheung! (regarding rumors) Earlier played as Wai Sui Bo's 7th wife "Ah Ho" (Kiki Sheung) automatically came to Kevin and said that she'll be willing to be his 7th rumored girlfriend, this scared Kevin and made him bounce off.

Roger Kwok, Kevin Cheng and Kiki Sheung attended the "Last One Standing" thanking dinner, Kevin's rumors became the focus once again. As to earlier there were rumors that in these 5 years Kevin has chased 6 girls. In the series, Kiki plays Kevin's mom fought to be Kevin's "Number 7" : "I'm his number 7! In the past I played 'Ah Ho', the most pretty one too!" This scared Kevin as he immediately bounced away, afterwards he played along: "Rumored to have so many, this is my most satisfied one!"

Kiki although was just playing with Kevin's rumors, but she fully supports him that he's not a playboy: "His standards are really high, he needs the girls to make the first move, so it is not possible that he chased after 6 girls. Even if I have, he hasn't even had!" As to his "old love" Niki Chow exposed that in the past half year they both have kept in contact and met up, Kevin feels that the rumors needs come to its end: "unless I hear Niki say it herslef, I will not respond. (Are you two still friends?) We have always been friends, don't want to say so much, there is nothing new to talk about."

Roger Kwok blurted out that wanted to film sequel

Speaking of the series coming to its end, Kevin said that he hopes the ratings will rise, but understands that the series is not what a Housewife would like to watch: "My mom even said that if I wasn't in the series, she may not have watched it." But Roger has confidence, will celebrate if the ratings are good: "Hope the ratings could reach 51 points, beating Moonlight Resoances, but won't set the goal to be so high, so next time we could beat it again! There is a scene in the finale that will put you all in great shock, must stay tuned! (Want to film sequel?) I'm quite compatible with Kevin, the sequel could have many different ideas, if its a comedy version, I could play a stuttering murderer, one side stuttering another side murdering." Last night for the dinner, Kevin and Roger both paid for the party, having 4-5 tables, inviting the entire cast and crew, but female lead Yoyo Mung was unable to attend due to work

This time they will work with a baby. The baby in the series is psychic and can help Roger Kwok solve crimes. Yuen Siu Yee who played a ghost in the previous series will be reincarnated and play a human.

Sonija Kwok indicated she will start to film the series next month. As for having many scenes with a baby, it was very fortunate that Roger Kwok who is used to taking care of his own baby was there to assist. She said "The baby is already very well behaved. In addition, Roger Kwok who is professional has been giving guidance about Baby Psychology while filming. Regardless whether the baby needs milk, he knows very clearly. That is why filming has been particularly successful".
Roger Kwok's other new series (Last One Standing) has become last weeks top rating series. The series will broadcast its final episode on Saturday. He hopes that it will have an even better result. The reporter asked if this had increased his confidence in winning the Best Male award? "It will depend on the audience votes, but this year competition is very competitive. The series (Moonlight Resonance) is very extraordinary".

When asked about hot favourite Raymond Lam being reported being late and playing game consoles while filming and affecting his chances of winning. The reporter laughed and asked if this will increase his confidence? Roger Kwok immediatley laughed and joked if it was real then he will buy more consoles for his colleagues. He said he sees Raymond Lam and Kevin Cheng receiving the TV King award. As for Moses Chan since he always says he doesn't need it, then he shouldn't be given it.

"Ah Wong" turned evil, Roger Kwok scolded in public

"Ah Wong" turned evil, Roger Kwok scolded in public
(6th October 2008)

Source: Mingpao
Translated by Squirt88 @ http://asianfanatics.net

Roger Kwok played a very deceitful bad guy role in "Last One Standing", causing him to get finger-pointing and scolding in public by the housewives ("see-lai").

Yesterday when he attended an environmental walk campaign, he said "I just arrived back in Hong Kong from Vietnam with my manager, a see-lai walked up and pointed her finger at me. She said "I hate you!" This shocked me because I didn't know what her intentions were."

A crowd began to gather around them but the see-lai did not intend to let him go just yet. She continued saying "I hate you so much! I really want to pinch you till you die! Why did Ah Wong become like this? Luckily I bump into you here, so I can vent!" Roger finally understood that the see-lai was referring to his character "Tong Lap Yin" in "Last One Standing". Roger asked her if she will continue watching the series. She answered that after she has vented out her frustrations, she felt very happy, so she will continue watching.

Roger jokingly commented "But I'm very not happy! I guess I can console myself that my more unique portrayal in the series has been successful indeed, being able to draw in the audience."

TVB's "Anniversary Awards Ceremony 2008" and "Anniversary Extravaganza" will be held on the 15th and 19th of November. To welcome TVB's 41st Anniversary, TVB held a lighting ceremony at TVB City yesterday. All the TVB artistes were present and took group photos together. This year due to "Moonlight Resonance" having extremely high viewing ratings, the senior artistes were particularly valued such as Louise Lee, Nancy Sit, Ng Kwan Lai, Lee Heung Kum, Michelle Yim and Susanna Kwan who all stood in the front row. Liza Wang stood next to Sir Run Run Shaw.

Every year when the TVB Anniversary has a lighting ceremony, they would take group photos together and do promotions. He stood in the middle inbewteen Liza Wang and Dodo Cheng. The Fa Dan's that stood in the front row this year were Gigi Lai, Ada Choi, Charmaine Sheh, Sheren Tang and Maggie Siu. Joyce Cheng was arranged to sing her new drama theme song. She appeared quite nervous and admitted afterwards that it affected her performance. She hoped that she could retake it. As for being arranged to perform first she said " TVB really love me, I feel like I have officially joined the TVB family. I have been raised drinking TVB's milk and have been drinking it since I was in my mother's stomach".

The cast of "The Gem of Life" Gigi Lai, Moses Chan, Maggie Siu etc did an catwalk and showed off jewels. Maggie Siu who wore a low cut dress was most sexy out of all of them. She joked "Sorry that I scared all of you". Afterwards, Wong Cho Lam and Elvina Kong acted out an comedy scene to wish TVB Happy Birthday. Kevin Cheng and Charmaine Sheh were both present. Even though he said he didn't feel awkward and didn't mind taking photos together, in the end he never took any with her. He personally said that September was the Gossip month. He hopes September will pass quickly and all the gossip will fade away. As for who he thinks will win "Best Actor"? He personally feels all the cast from "Moonlight Resonance" have a high chance. When we mentioned that Charmaine has also been nominated. He replied "I support her too". Charmaine thanked Kevin for his comments but doesn't have much confidence in winning because "Moonlight Resonance" is too powerful. She personally has high hopes for Susanna Kwan in taking the TV Queen award.
