Myolie Wu and Kevin Cheng win top honours at TVB awards

he duo each swept three awards at the annual Hong Kong TVB awards including Best Actor and Best Actress awards

Following Hong Kong actors Kevin Cheng and Myolie Wu's fruitful trip to Malaysia, which saw the duo sweeping awards at the 2011 Astro On Demand event last week, the pair clinched top honours at the annual TVB Awards 2011, one of the Hong Kong's biggest television awards last night.

The biggest winner of the night, it has been five years since Kevin won the Best Actor award after he first won it for his role in Under the Canopy of Love.

Apart from winning the Best Actor award for his role in Ghetto Justice, the actor also bagged the My Favourite Male Character award and the tvb.com Microblog's Most Popular Artiste award.

During his acceptance speech, Kevin said, "Five years ago, I experienced the joy of becoming a Best Actor. Then, I felt 'happy but worried'. There's only happiness this time."

The other big winner of the night was Myolie, who wore a grand evening gown to the awards ceremony.

She won the Best Actress award for her role in Curse of the Royal Harem and swept two other awards, namely My Favourite Female Character award for her role in Ghetto Justice and the Extremely Elegant Female Actress award.

Touted by critics as the hot favourite for the Best Actress award, when Myolie's name was announced during the My Favourite Female Character award, the actress appeared to be in shock.

Later, when she and rumoured boyfriend Bosco Wong received their awards for the Extremely Elegant Male and Female awards, Myolie was expressionless, as if she worried she might lose out the Best Actress award.

When veteran actors Francis Ng and Patrick Tse announced Myolie as the Best Actress winner, the actress was in so much shock, tears started streaming down her face. The 32-year-old thanked her colleagues, family and friends, who had helped and supported her in the past.

Then, Myolie made a special mention to "that particular person" and the cameras on stage immediately zoomed in on Bosco, while the actress continued her declaration of love on during her acceptance speech on stage.

She expressed that "that person" was very strict with her when they were filming Wars of the In-laws, and added, "I know we have our shortcomings. I hope I can continue to accompany everyone."

Her speech received a thunderous applause from the audience.

Meanwhile, fellow actor Michael Tse, who was a hot favourite for the Best Actor award, was so nervous, that his hands were shaking near the results announcement.

After he lost the title to Kevin, the actor seemed disappointed, but still congratulated his competitor and Michael was seen making a quiet exit as soon as the awards ceremony was over.
