Lydia Shum Brought Property to help Joyce Cheng

"I hope to hear my daughter sing good songs and that everyone would like my daughter. This is the greatest comfort that I can get." The statement was said by Lydia Shum earlier on Joyce's blog when asked what her New Year wish was. Lydia's greatest worry before passing away of course is her "bo booi" daughter, the daughter that spent most of her life with. This New years wish of hers has become her very last wish.

According to today's Hong Kong newspapers reports, Joyce is 20 years old. In order to let Joyce live without any sorrows, earlier Lydia has done much preparations. News reports has said that when Lydia was alive, she did many preparations like transferring all her money and any valuables that she own to ex-husband Adam Cheng, Lydia's older sister, good friend Miss Cheung Chit and Florance Chan to help her manage. At the time, Adam was asked by reporters regarding this issue and that Lydia trusted him to give him her property. He answered, "Already handled it".

In order to establish her daughter's career, Lydia spoke with Liu Jia Chang, who has 30 years of music experience to help Joyce enter the music industry. She instructed Liu to teach his god-daughter (Joyce) to sing. Hope it will be helpful for her development into the entertainment circle. Not only is Godfather Liu experienced in the music field, but he is also quite wealthy, recently he has stepped into the business world and invested in property and opened a hotel. Also he has spent HK$1 Billion to purchase a music recording studio in Wan Sui street.

Liu Jia Chang's wife said that her husband is currently in the U.S and will inform him of Lydia's death soon. She says that she does not know about Joyce's trust funds and also said that yesterday morning she received a phone call from Joyce. At the time Joyce was choking on her words as she sobs, she comforts her, "Your mother's greatest hope is for you to be successful in your career, you must be strong and fulfill your mother's wish."

Recently Joyce has lost her grandmother and mother, both very important to her. Father Adam Cheng earlier said that he would definitely take care of her. He will sell the house in "9 Lung Tong" in the future and have Joyce move up to the mountains where he lives. Lydia has 9 brothers and sisters, believe they would also look after Joyce.

Medical Expenses High, Close friends deny Lydia has little property

It has been reported that, Lydia mainly has two houses, one in Canada and one in Hong Kong. Middle of last year, Lydia sold the single family house in Vancouver and according to the records, she sold it for $1.3 million Canadian Dollars, convert that to Hong Kong dollar, it is approximately HK$10.2 Million.

Although there is much income but Lydia has been sick since year 2006. Usually entering the hospital for treatments and tests, will cost a fee of about a million dollars. It was rumored that Joyce's earnings was not much but Lydia's good friend denies and says that Lydia has more than a million in cash. Lydia also owns two cars worth HK$280,000 and a HK$520,000 Toyota which would changed into "Joyce's Manufacturing company". Also, Lydia owns many jewelries and valuables, her golden bracelet's value is hard to estimate.

Presently, Lydia only has the property in Hong Kong where she used to live when she was alive and a garden in "9 Lung Tong". This property is worth HK$50 Million. But, Lydia only occupies 1/3 because earlier she partnered up with Cheung Yiu Wing's wife and named it "Victory Asia Development Ltd" and had "Glory City Property Ltd" company together. There is a rumor that earlier Lydia wants to invest the property, but in the end she didn't get it sold.

Besides arranging everything in an orderly fashion, Lydia also worked hard to help Joyce enter the entertainment industry in the future and to start her development route. In the earlier years, Lydia established "Joyce Manufacturing Limited" for Joyce and the partners include good friend Florence Chan and Lydia's 5th sister, Shum Mei Ha. Hopefully in the future the both of them could help Joyce.
