Actor Chow Yun Fat recently revealed that it's the comedy aspect that made him agree to reprise his role as the maverick gambler, Ko Chun for the upcoming Chinese crime comedy, "From Vegas to Macau" (also known as "The Man from Macau").
As reported on CRI, while speaking to the media at the press conference that was held on 10 December, Chow stated, "Actually, there is not much gambling in the film. I chose to do the film because it's a comedy and I hope to please Wong Jing."
The actor stated that it has been twenty years since he acted in a comedy film, adding that his last participation in the genre other than in Wong Jing's was with "The Eighth Happiness" back in 1988.
Directed by Wong Jing, "From Vegas to Macau" is the fourth instalment of the "God of Gamblers" film series. It also stars Nicholas Tse, Chapman To, Gao Hu, Jing Tian and Tong Fei.
The actor also joked that he lost over 20 kilograms before the production began, saying it was stressful to compete with his younger co-stars.
"Nicholas, Jing Tian are very thin and now even Chapman has lost some weight. So I have no other choice but to trim down!" said the actor.
Meanwhile, Wong Jing expressed his confidence that the movie will do well at the box office, saying that he predicts that "From Vegas to Macau" will make HKD 1.5 billion.
"From Vegas to Macau" will be released on 24 January next year in Singapore.
