The traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival has provided pop duo Twins an opportunity for reunion.
Members of the Hong Kong girl group, Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung, made a rare public appearance together on Sunday in quake-hit Beichuan of Sichuan Province, celebrating the festival with locals.
They were joined by fellow singer Yumiko Cheng who, like Twins, was in Beichuan because of quake-benefit efforts made by their agent company Emperor Entertainment Group.
Gillian Chung, who was embroiled in a nude photo scandal in January, has been volunteering in Beichuan for about a week, Hong Kong media reported.
Twins went on almost complete hiatus after the scandal, and Charlene Choi had to attend promotional activities alone.

Since the scandal involving Gillian Chung at the beginning of the year, Twins’ image has been damaged. Unwillingly, Twins had to be disbanded temporarily. All their work were put on hold, leaving Ah Sa to face the media and her work alone. However, after over half a year, the issue has died down. Ah Gill is working hard towards her comeback. Earlier, Ah Gill was in Hangzhou as basketball ambassador. More recently, Ah Gill joined by Don Li and Yumiko made visits to Si Chuan. Last night, Ah Sa joined in for the volunteer work, letting the long hoped for Twins to reunite temporarily on Mid-Autumn Festival (人月兩團圓).
Ah Sa, who had to work alone for a long time, was very excited to finally reunite with partner, Ah Gill. The night before, she won an award for her solo song 《Make a Wish》 at the Jade Solid Gold 2nd Round. However, it wasn’t as happy as spending such a special holiday with Ah Gill.
Giving out Mooncakes and Lucky Bags
Ah Sa happily says: “Tomorrow I will reunite and spend the holiday with Ah Gill, together in Si Chuan to spend Mid-Autumn Festival with the locals. 10,000 mooncakes and lucky bags were prepared for the locals.” Will Twins songs be sang? She says: “We’ll have to see, because we aren’t doing this as a job.” It is known they will sing ‘Moon Represents My Heart’ 《月亮代表我的心》. You’re leaving Hong Kong for Mid-Autumn Festival, so that means you can’t spend it with rumored boyfriend, Ronald Cheng? She smilingly says: “I will be with Ah Gill.”
Visiting Northern Si Chuan, Leigu Town
This time, they will be in Si Chuan as representatives for EEG Charitable Funds to participate in “EEG’s Leigu Town Heart-to-Heart with Love Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration”. The day before, Ah Gill and Yumiko and Don have already arrived in Leigu Town to start their visits. It looks like her spirits are up and her confident smile has returned. They visited a grandma’s home, spending time to talk to her and give her massages. This grandma has lost all her family except one granddaughter to the earthquake. When they were leaving, the grandma gave them some peanuts as presents, but they didn’t want to take it (out of politeness), and unexpectedly, the grandma started to cry. Ah Gill and Yumiko took charge to distract the grandma while Don secretly returned the peanuts to the grandma’s home.
Dedication to the earthquake victims
In their trip, they met many of the earthquake victims; they were continuing to live strongly. They believe that what the victims need now is not money or presents, but love and care. Many of the villagers were very touched to see that they would travel all the way from Hong Kong to give up their free time and spend their holiday with them instead of with their own families. During their visits, they would play games with the kids and became photographers, taking photos with the villagers. Last night, Mid-Autumn Festival night, Ah Sa arrived in Si Chuan to reunite with Ah Gill, attending the celebration together and spending the holiday with the villagers hoping to share their love.
