GILLIAN Chung Yan Tung, of the pop duo Twins, was due to perform at the Beijing Olympic Games in August, but she has been dumped over her apparent involvement in the obscene photo scandal that has rocked Hong Kong.
Also affected: Nicholas Tse, whose wife actress Cecilia Cheung appeared in photographs as well, reported the South China Morning Post.
Tse had been slated to perform at the event, but has also been dropped.
The ceremony's artistic director, filmmaker Zhang Yimou, instead turned to new mainland act A-One, a Chinese newspaper reported yesterday.
Citing sources, the paper said that Yimou had done that because of the scandal over the photographs.
The Emperor Entertainment Group, which manages both Gillian and Cecilia, would not comment.
Edison Chen, who has admitted taking the photographs - copied from his computer while it was under repair - is still helping the police with their inquiries.
On Sunday, he said he had filed a complaint to the Customs and Excise Department that his copyright on the photographs had been infringed, in the hope that this would prevent further infringement.
A lawyer who is not involved in the case agreed that Edison did have copyright on the photographs, even if he had not stated so clearly, said the report.
A 23-year-old computer technician has been charged with using a computer for dishonest intent and is out on bail.
