magazine reported that Sammi is in a new relationship after being single for 7 years but according to insiders, the rumoured boyfriend (Elmond Yeung Chi-Sam) is actually already in a relationship with someone of the same sex. Reporters asked Sammi's manager, Wallace Kwok on the rumour and he said that Elmond Yeung is Stanley Kwan's script writer. They have struck a friendship from and will meet often to catch up. Wallace added that Sammi already has a few things lined up in the coming months. She will be doing some promotional works for her new movie, before heading to Genting, Malaysia for a concert. In October, she will make a trip to Inner Mongolia under World Vision.

On a seperate interview, Andy Hui was asked about the rumour and after inspecting the magazine, he said that he also knows the man in the photo and doubt that the news is true. However, even if it is true, there is nothing wrong with Sammi being in a relationship. Later, he joked that such news also can make it to the front cover. Andy also said that during his birthday, Sammi left a message to wish him a happy birthday and sang him a song. When he got back from his concert tour, he called Sammi up to wish her a happy birthday but have mistaken the person on the phone for Sammi. The person that picked up the phone was actually her sister who sounds just like Sammi!
